Raising a Burgh Baby the Right Way
There is no way that the Toddler will remember the Steelers winning the Superbowl when she was just nine days old.
She certainly doesn't remember how we lent her lucky mojo to her Grandpa's Colts for Superbowl XLI.
But how perfectly Burghtastic would it be if some of her earliest memories are of attending Penguins playoff games?
(Really crappy video, but it was SO FUN to be there.)
(Somebody got a new lens for Mr. Canon for Mother's Day. That someone is a very happy camper.)

Alexis is one lucky girl! How do you keep managing to get tickets to all of the games?
Wow! That looks like a blast! Way to go, Pens!
I have been reading your blog for a few days...I am originally from Pittsburgh, but live in the south now. I was in labor on Superbowl Sunday when the Steelers were playing. It was a great distraction!! My son was born on the day after and we totally considered naming him Benjamin or Jerome. :) Anyway, you are so lucky to still live there and have your child experience the life of a Pittsburgher. We watched last night's game as a whole family (my parents, my brother and his family, and of course, the four of us) on TV, but, as you and I both know, it's just not the same. All I can say is, Let's Go Pens!!
People can say what they want about Pittsburgh, but one thing they have to admit is, we have amazing fans! I could almost feel the seats shaking!
Looks like a blast!
You know, hockey players have no teeth and do all sorts of gross luck-related things like never washing their pads until they lose. But hockey sure is fun to watch (from a safe distance where one is unlikely to have teeth knocked out and/or smell rotting padding).
Alexis looks like she's getting indoctrinated early. That's good - I'm working on Sumo regarding college basketball.
Looks like you had a great time!
I can see it now. She'll be innocently sitting in 2nd grade and the teacher will be asking "what is your favorite memory?"
"My mommy and daddy took me to see penguins ice skating late at night. There were a lot of people yelling and eating and drinking. I was afraid of the big penguin."
But that won't require therapy or anything.
Those pictures are fabulous!! Especially the fireworks one. WOW!
Congrats on the new lens!!! THAT is a really great Mother's Day present.
She is just so darling.
I fully believe that pictures help kids to understand and re-live experiences they might not otherwise remember.
How cool that you got to the game! My husband was just telling me about how much money the Penguins are now bringing in to the Burgh. Crazy! But cool!
So DO tell, what lens did you get! I know it is Canon, and I have Nikon, but you know me, I love anything to do with photography. Details please!
And I just got a 55 - 200 lens this week! Haven't had a lot of opportunity to play yet, maybe this weekend.
it would be great if they could remember all that fun stuff. oh well. i'm sure it's not the last time she will see the Steelers win the Superbowl!!! (positive thinking my dear!)
Oh- I can't tell hubby you keep getting tickets to games. Though it isn't Pens tickets he is trying to score, he keeps getting disappointed when he misses the steelers tickets. Alexis is one luck girl! LOVE those pictures- that new lens is awesome!
I have memories of being that little. Granted they are distorted and likely totally wrong, but i have them. I hope she does remember at least some of these nights...if nothing else you are building an amazing relationship with her!!!
My favorite pictures are close ups of kids so I LOVE the first shot of Alexis and her giant eyes. SO cute!!
Oh so cute! I'm so jealous that you are able to go to all of these games.
That last picture is wonderful. She has such pretty eyes!
Wow, you are SO lucky! I would have loved to be there!!
looks funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
lucky you. lucky alexis!
I am SO frickin' jealous.
Happy Mothers Day!
It's awesome that you have been able to go to the games. We were home losing our minds. I'm loving this!
It sure is great to be a burgh baby! what a lucky little girl!
the pictures are fabulous--you have some talent there
Happy Mother's Day!
Jon has a co-worker who is from, gasp, PHILLY. Jon told him he had a meeting, then went to his office and decorated in full Pen's flair. I then e-mailed him on Friday off and on with LET'S GO PENS! because I am awesome like that.
I saw a guy in a Kasparaitis jersey the other day, I almost hugged him. I used to LOVE Darius!
I was wondering if you took her with you. I am shocked she can stay still that long AND stay up that late! Mine is a bear after 10 minutes & is torture after 8 pm.
That would be pretty sweet :)
She is going to be quite the fan!
Love those shots.
Yay!! What fun~ great photos too :D
very cool! glad you were able to go!
Congrats on the win :(
Unfortunately the Flyers are stinkin'...they can't seem to get it moving...and your lovely Penguins are fast!
Let's see what game 3 brings!
I LOVE that you are raising that sweet girl the right way! Moms like you and I who force feed sports down our daughters' throats are definitely making sure they have happy husbands later in life!
