Chaos Has Resumed

Remember how a year ago, the entire world simultaneously hit the "pause" button? I MISS THAT. Busy is definitely a created state and I'm responsible for my own chaos, but daaaang. I kind of liked when spring didn't mean an uptick in all of the things.

Competitive dance season is picking up steam, which means we've got actual plans on multiple weekends coming up. Rehearsals are also becoming more frequent. Alexis has a duet this year, which means she's trying to snag half an hour here and there to practice with her partner. Some day she is going to look back and realize that I drove half an hour, waited for her for half an hour, and then drove back all so her duet could improve. It's worth it, of course, but I don't think she fully realizes the time commitment yet.

Last year all the rehearsals were via Zoom, as were the competitions. I didn't have to leave the house.

Mila is a whole other bucket of chaos that I created. She has FAR too much energy, so I'm trying to make sure she has tons of safe, outdoor activities. Soccer is on deck, so say goodbye to one more day per week. And then some because she loves to practice when she's not at practice. That's on top of dance (which I swear she only does because her sister does it, but WHATEVER) and cheer (which she loves, probably to spite me) and WHO AM I? I do not believe in allowing tiny kids to be in that many activities!

Is this what happens with second kids? They destroy your will to live with way too much energy so you shell out whatever money just to keep them busy, even though you theoretically think they shouldn't be so busy?

I don't actually want to hit the pause button again, but maybe we could figure out a way to voluntarily hit one month out of the year? I need to figure that out.

Whatchamacallit Eggs

I'm not entirely sure why the universe fails to properly recognize this fact, but Whatchamacallits are the best candy bar. Ever. EVER. Chocolate, peanut butter, Rice Krispies, and caramel. I mean, WHAT? That's perfection right there.

And that's the short story that explains why lately I've been messing around with the concept of a Whatchamacallit in basically every form imaginable. I'm sure some of those things will make it here, but first, Whatchamacallit Eggs!

Easter is coming, though you shouldn't depend on me to answer when because I HAVE NO IDEA. Time stopping existing a year ago. Add to that my loathing for holidays that move and I'm so confused. What week is it?

It's Whatchamacallit Eggs week.

Whatchamacallit Eggs

1/4 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 cup Rice Krispies
Rolos
1 1/2 cup melting chocolate
Sprinkles (optional)

1. Using a mixer, combine the butter and peanut butter until creamy. Then add in the vanilla and mix some more.

2. Slowly add the powdered sugar.

3. Stir in the Rice Krispies, or use your hands to mush them in. Just don't use the mixer because it won't work well and you'll end up with a mess.

4. Rolo time! Unwrap them. I got about 24 eggs out of this recipe, but you may get more or less depending on how big you make the eggs.

5. Take a little scoop of peanut butter stuff and make a little ball. It should be about 3/4" across. Once you have your little ball, smoosh it flat and stick a Rolo on top of it.

6. Now fold the sides of the peanut butter up over the Rolo.

7. Mush and shape the peanut butter around the Rolo until you have a little egg. Repeat all that until you run out of peanut butter stuff.

8. Refrigerate the eggs.

9. Melt the chocolate. I prefer to use these melting wafers and a little crock pot, but you do what you like.

10. Dip time! Dip the eggs in the melted chocolate then place them on wax paper to allow the chocolate to set.

11. If you'd like, decorate the eggs with sprinkles.

12. See how many you can eat in one sitting. It's a contest. GO!
