You People are Strangers to Me

If Alexis has ever made you feel bad by acting as if she had never in her life seen you and didn't plan on getting to know you just then, you should know that it's a common malady with her. Yesterday we went to a picnic for daycare. All her favorite teachers were there. Yet, despite the fact that she spends 40-50 hours per week with them, she acted as if they were total and complete strangers. Even her BFF Miss Michelle couldn't get her attention for a millisecond. Alexis sprouted wings and jumped into my arms to hide when confronted by a friendly, "Hi, Lex!" At least we finally know for a fact that she likes us better than the people we pay to hang out with her.

Fun in the Sun

Despite the fact that she's shown no interest in swimming, we decided to get Alexis a pool for the yard. This really looked like a good idea:

I mean, you've got a canopy to provide baby skin protecting shade AND rain trickling down. What more could you ask for in a $20 inflatable monstrosity? I even had help blowing up the pool:

Which was a good thing. I think I popped a vein or two. I definately lost a lung. But it was worth it, because Alexis actually played in her little pool.

The problem? (You had to know one was coming. I don't write about things that work perfectly, after all.) No matter how much air we put in the thing, how many pieces of rope we used, or how many other ways Daddy tried to rig the thing, the second I let go, we had this:

False advertising at its best. It's a good thing that photographs don't capture four-letter words. There sure were a lot of them flying around.

What to Do, What to Do

We had a lot of rain today, so there are puddles, puddles everywhere. What is a Kinnley to do?

A. Stomp in the puddles and splash water everywhere.
B. Bend over and slap the water to splash it even more.
C. Bend over even further and drink the water from the puddle.
D. All of the above.

The correct answer is, of course, D. I bet that was some sparkly clean water she drank from the driveway.
