Consistent

I am absolutely convinced that Mila will learn to drive before she learns to sleep in her own bed. And, let's be honest, I'm not going to trust that kid with a 2000 pound hunk of metal for a VERY long time. If anyone can weaponize a 1992 Ford Fiesta, it's Mila. We should probably hold on teaching her to drive until she's 30? Maybe 40?

She'll definitely still be sleeping with me then.

Though, I have officially proven that Mila is capable of sleeping in her own bed. Sort of. It's been about 2 months since we did a big bedroom switcheroo and Mila gained the tiny bedroom with the fantastic loft. There was lots of redecorating and Mila was VERY excited to get her new room.

And she promptly declared it was for waking hours only. It's fun to sit up in the loft and read; it's stupid to sleep up there.

WHATEVER, MILA.

Still, last week I conned the kid into climbing up into her loft while she waited for me to change out the bedding all around the house. I don't know why I decided I needed to do that at 9:00 at night, but go me because Mila fell asleep waiting. One second she was having a deep conversation with a stuffed narwhale, the next she was making tiny little snoring noises. It was like she forgot she was supposed to stay awake. I promptly ran for the hills so as to not disturb her at all. She gifted me with staying in her own bed until 5:00 am.

No worries, at 5:00 am when she woke up, Mila ripped my face off for letting her sleep by herself. There was a lot of yelling and crying and such, meaning she yelled and I cried because DON'T WAKE ME UP AN HOUR BEFORE MY ALARM, KID.

Anyway, I have spent the days since then trying to convince Mila that maybe she should try sleeping in her bed again. It might be fun! She might get better at it if she practices!

She's not buying what I'm selling. In fact, when I brought it up earlier this evening, her reply was, "That's okay. I already know I'm good at sleeping in my own bed. I did it twice."

She's right, you know. She has done it exactly twice since the Pens making the Stanley Cup Finals ruined her. (For real, that's how she went from being a rock star at sleeping in her bed to never doing it again. Damn you, Penguins!) She did it exactly once to earn the pet hamster that she badly wanted. She did it the second time on accident.

At this rate, she'll do it once more in about 3 years. I can't wait.
