There are exactly two rules during a global pandemic.
1. There are no rules.
2. When in doubt, see rule #1.
And that is why when my kid said she wanted "Froot Loop Cake" I figured out how to make "Froot Loop Cake." Except, global pandemic, so I couldnt' be bothered to put real effort into this whole thing. Look, you can judge my lack of effort, but I'm somehow managing to be busier than ever at work while also parenting two kids who are doing the cyber school thing. IT'S A LOT, OKAY.
If you too are in need of a dessert that will impress the tiny humans in your life while not being much effort, here you go. Make it in trifle form because those tiny humans mostly only care about the whipped cream anyway. Just embrace the whole mess.
Froot Loop Trifle
Funfetti or similar cake, baked according to the instructions on the box (I technically made a from-scratch vanilla cake with sprinkles in it, but that seems excessive in retrospect)
4 cups whipped cream (or Cool Whip - embrace the lazy, y'all)
1 cup Froot Loops
1. Cut up the baked cake into small squares. Toss a layer of them into the bottom of a clear glass bowl.
2. Add a whipped cream layer.
3. Add a Froot Loop layer.
4. Repeat the layers until you run out of stuff.
5. Eat fast because the Froot Loops turn mushy. Yes, I just told you that the responsible thing to do is to sit on the couch with a giant bowl of the stuff and make yourself happy.
