Every year I think I should somehow document what the girls got for Christmas. The list is never really that exciting, but it seems like I should remember? Maybe?

It's very not necessary this year. I will remember.

I will remember especially what Mila got as her "big" gift. There were plenty of small things like clothes and books and stuffed animals, and she loved them all, but her big gift was her very own Kindle Fire. It's the first time Mila has ever gotten an electronic device that wasn't a hand-me-down. Apparently that's life-changing?

It's life-changing.

Given that it's Christmas break and I have to work, screen time limits are ... ahem. It's 2020, y'all. If you're still limiting screen time, I admire your resolve. I do. I also acknowledge that I do not possess that resolve. It's a free-for-all over here. Once in a while I will throw things at the girls to make them consider putting down the tiny screens, but mostly I'm very "whatever" about all of the things.

The combination of a brand new Kindle Fire and a parent who has given up on screen time restrictions = the greatest days of Mila's life.

Seriously, she's so happy. She has spent every waking moment playing games and watching shows and being happy. So happy. Mila is over-the-moon.

For what it's worth, I will put an end to the party. Once school resumes, life is going to be difficult for Mila. In the meantime, though, THE KID ISN'T GETTING IN TROUBLE. Like, she hasn't snuck junk food out of the pantry in four days. She also hasn't stolen anything out of my bathroom, painted any walls, stuck any stickers on any furniture ... all of her usual shenanigans have been put on hold. IT'S SO GREAT. The kid sits on the couch and stares at her Kindle and pretty much just stays there. Parenting Mila has never been this easy.

And that's my Christmas gift. A whole week of Mila staring at her Kindle. BEST GIFT EVER.
