We had just pulled out of the preschool parking lot when Alexis said, "Can we stop at the barn and take pictures?"
After I figured out how to keep driving with my chin dragging on the ground, I put on my Cool Face and nonchalantly said, "Sure." I squeed in my head, but didn't let any of the excitement leak out of my face. This kid. This kid does NOT pose for photos. She has an occasional lapse in judgement, but it's very rare and it's never something that she declares in advance.
Of course, I didn't have all of my camera stuff with us in the car. That's how it works. I had to slum it with just one of my lenses, but at least I had my camera and that one lens.
Originally I thought this was going to be where I was going to get to be all WOOOOO! LOOK AT ME! because I shot every single photo in full manual mode. But, then I got home and realized I screwed up the white balance. So, all of these were adjusted in PhotoShop to correct THAT moment of stupidity. I blame a brain lapse brought on by my child, of all people, actually requesting a little photo shoot.
Next time, though. Next time I will get the EXACT photo I have in my head (the one I posted over the weekend has a stupid door handle intruding where I didn't want it, but I wasn't brave enough to try to get Alexis to move) and I will do it in full manual. It's my mission.
