It's amazing the difference a year can make, especially when a new year brings with it a new, more experienced teacher. Last year at the first parent conferences with Alexis' teacher, I wasn't sure we were talking about the same child.

Seriously.

It was an awful situation that became worse in retrospect when I discovered that it doesn't have to be that way. This year Alexis has a fantastic teacher who has a lot of experience and it shows. She knows the kid inside and out, which is more than I could have possibly hoped for. Today's parent teacher conferences exceeded any and all of my expectations.

So far the switch from private school to public school has been a good one. Here's to hoping it stays that way.

It turns out that federal vehicles have immunity, meaning that the Post Office pleads "TOO BAD, SO SAD" when it comes to the fact that one of their employees wrecked our truck while working.

Seriously.

We're working with our insurance to get the truck fixed or replaced, but there is a chance that we will have to pay the deductible, even though we were nowhere near the truck when it got hit.

I am not amused. AT ALL.
