"But mooooooom, the duck is leaving today!" Alexis said. REPEATEDLY.
She wanted to make a return trip to see the 40-foot inflatable duck downtown. We didn't really have time to do it, but then she added in that she wanted to go take photos of it herself.
I dropped everything faster than anything you've ever seen. I made the Scooby Doo ska-daddle noise as I ran out the door with the kid in tow. My kid? Asking to take photos? I AM SO THERE.
And that is how it came to be that Alexis and I wandered around Point Park for an hour this past Sunday. I followed her as she found things she wanted to photograph with her cheap (but very loved) camera.
And she photographed whatever caught her eye.
Isn't it crazy how big of a difference perspective makes?
Mostly she wanted to photograph the duck. Which, AWESOME.
I swear the duck looks bigger from where Alexis stands.
And when she stands next to it.
The thing Alexis will remember, I think, is that we managed to spend time around a very giant yellow duck just before it left town. The thing I will remember is that the 7-year old still likes to hold my hand in public and is really very confident behind and in front of the camera.
Which ... AWESOME.
