Ribbit

Daddy found this little guy in our pond earlier this week. Alexis missed him since she was already asleep, so we're going to have to go hunting for him again soon. She's a big fan of frogs, so she'll be excited.

Tomorrow we're headed to a Suckos -er- I mean Buccos game. It should be interesting seeing how we keep a one-year old content for three or four hours, especially since it's an evening game and she'll want to be asleep. It's hard enough to keep myself entertained during a Pirates game. Too bad football season can't start in the spring.

The Cutest Thing EVER

All this week, Alexis has been insisting on taking a book to bed with her. Frankly, I'm cool with her taking anything whe wants to bed with her just as long as she goes to sleep without shattering my ear drums and then stays asleep until 6:00. But she's being way cute with the book thing. She is actually sitting in her crib, "reading" the book to her stuffed animal Piggy every night. She sits up, puts Piggy in her lap, then babbles on and on while she turns the pages. After story time is over, she lays down, snuggles Piggy, and goes to sleep. It is the absolute cutest thing EVER. I'm hoping she keeps doing it into the weekend so that I can try video-taping her from afar. I'm afraid that if I do it on a school night she'll notice and I'll end up disrupting her routine. She'll then pay me back by waking up 15 times during the night. That is, after all, how Alexis rolls.

Fear Factor Training

Alexis is TOTALLY over her fear/hatred for dirt. Recently she has taken a liking to sticking her little fingers in the flower pots, putting those dirt-covered fingers in her mouth, then rinsing them off in the little pond on the deck. She and I have been battling over this little habit for a few days now and we won't stop until I win. It's bad enough that she eats chalk, paper, rocks, and dog food; she really doesn't need to eat dirt, too.
