Random: Yoi and Double Yoi Edition
- After reading all your comments from yesterday's post, I'm left wondering if any of you ever get any sleep. Don't answer that, by the way. If anybody says they do, I might have to throw rusty cans of rotten tomotoes at them. Anyway, y'all are a bunch of funny, sleep-deprived, blanket-scrounging, bed-wanting fools. Thanks for the laughs and for making me feel not-so-alone in my quest to sleep without wearing a toddler helmet.
In case you were wondering, the Toddler slept through the night last night, thereby ensuring that I would not get an opportunity to test my new method of threats. I'm sure I'll get my chance tonight. (Oh, and that does not mean I slept through the night. There's still the matter of those two pesky dogs.)
- A couple of my favorite Twits already know about it, but I got a new camera. As in, I got The Camera. It took over a year for me to talk myself into spending that kind of money on what is essentially a luxury, but when we got our federal tax refund, I thought about the fact that I take pictures just about every day and that my little bud the Sony Cybershot has been known to let me down quite frequently, and I figured it was justified. Of course, just thinking the words "maybe I'll finally buy a good camera" were enough to send Mr. Husband into hyper electronics acquisition mode. He spent HOURS researching prices and features and blah, blah, blah. It finally showed up on Saturday, and now he's the only one that has used it. The same man who has taken maybe 20 pictures in the past ten years has now taken over 100 in the past few days with Mr. Canon. I haven't taken a single one. Frankly, I'm a little bit scared of Mr. Canon. He's so big and powerful and amazing. I need to read his instruction guide, maybe take him out for dinner and a movie, and get to know him better.
- Project watch what you say is in full swing. The repeating? At never before seen levels. In the past week, Meg has been called stupid and special (both adults get the blame for the former, but the latter was all Mr. Husband). The Toddler is repeating EVERYTHING. I'm going to go out on a limb and bet that the first time she repeats a real bad cuss, I'm going to be the one responsible. That's what happens when you endlessly hound your husband not to swear.
- Coaches and players come and go, but there is one man who has and will always be The Pittsburgh Steelers--Myron Cope. The voice was unforgettable and the legacy will remain forever. We'll miss ya' Cope.

My husband gets excited any time I want something "electronic" and would do the same thing...hours of painstaking research with graphs and product analysis. Congrats on the new camera. Kick those dogs off the bed and get some sleep...
Not only did I acquire my super fancy digital camera while the husband has been gone, I also got a video camera. And, oh, it has nearly killed the guy to not play with them.
Enjoy Mr. Canon. I hope he satisfies you as well as Mr. Nikon has done for me :-)
oh, congrats on Mr. Canon! Justin has the same (or similar...what do I know...it's been in our house like 2 or 3 years and I can barely use it...I just use my trusty canon powershot sd-850 elph. I only like it because it's tiny). But Justin gets some really good pics with it (as you've probably already seen). Don't worry, after a couple of drinks, the big camera-ness will wear off. ;)
When you read the manual, tell me how to turn of the delay I got mine stuck on, um kay? (that was in the South Park psych voice) And, ahh. Myron. Your towels are quite a legacy. Now that the Oilers are gone & there is no longer a yellow v blue hatred, I can mourn you.
That was turn off the delay.
You slept. I was jarred awake before dawn by his highness jumping through the ceiling above my bed (or maybe that is just how it sounded).......
Not sleeping is brutal. Especially when they start letting you, then take it back.
Oooh, a new toy. I'm officially jealous. I got a new cheapy camera last fall and am less than enamored. My other cheapy was fab until I broke it.
Although I'm not into sports at all, I did hear and register the passing of Cope. The man is a legend and will always be associated forever with the sport.
Ugh. The Sony Cybershot is my NEW camera so I'm totally depressed that it's your rejected one...but at least I know that it's not ME who sucks, but the camera. (Because it really DOES suck, doesn't it??)
I have the same camera, and I LOVE it! Never read the manual - it's pretty simple and takes really great shots. Wish I could stuff it in the diaper bag, because I hate my small camera. By the time the dang thing takes the picture, Dylan is practically in the next room.
Aww, that's cute. I can't even find the manual for my camera!
Yeah I think I now need to buy the $40.00 cd that teaches us how to use this camera..But I looove it !! And I did shed tears today when I watched the tribute to Myron !!Soo sad, My dd has been singing this silly cheer he used to say "aussa aussa aussa hit em with a big kolbassa !!" since she could talk...funny but he will be missed !! Double Yoi that !!
Did you get a Rebel? I LOVE mine!! My hubs is not aloud near it....
And just wait until Alexis drops her first f bomb...you will be so proud...NOT!
Good Lord, can I blame drinking on the spelling in that last comment? :)
The loss to the sport truly sucks, and he will be mourned. I absolutely understand your sentiments.
My youngest went through the "repeat everything" phase. He actually didn't quote us that often, which is totally surprising as Coach swears like a sailor and my youngest brother actually IS a sailor (complete with all the language!).... but he DID quote the next door neighbor... often... as he yelled at the neighborhood kids and dogs!
We don't have the same repeat problem you do. Our is that Bubba will take waht you said and chagne the last word of your sentence and repeat it back to you, but he changes the first letter. Like if you say "pick up the rake" he'll say "Pick up the jake" And he does this CONSTANTLY.
Glad you got some sleep. Makes a world of difference doesn't it?
If it's not the kids, it's the pets. Sometimes, a mom needs a night alone in a hotel.
What a sweet picture :)
I've been trying to talk myself into buying The Camera, too. I have a bigger canon that takes amazing pictures and then I have a smaller, easier to take with me everywhere I go Canon that takes great pictures. Not sure WHY I need The Camera. Maybe because I buy a new one every year and I have to continue the tradition? Who knows.
And look at that....I hijacked your comments section and talked about nothing. I? Am special.
:)
I am so jealous of the camera. So jealous.
Thanks for all your support over the last couple of days, girl. I owe you one. (But I'm still not giving up the name! lol)
so not only was it $$ well spent for a great camera, you made your hubby very happy! :)
"hyper electronics acquisition mode"---I need a new camcorder. Is your hubby available?
Too funny!
Mr. Farklepants has a fancy Canon (not that model but a very fancy camera) and I am scared of it too. I hadn't thought about taking it out to dinner. Maybe I could get it drunk at happy hour and it would put out.
I got my Canon a few months ago and it still intimidates the crap out of me! One day, I'll learn...
i'm totally LOVIN' mr. nikon. enjoy your dates with mr. canon. he's a fine fellow!
Try kissing the canon with tongue like I did with my Tivo.
Electronics like that.
(what is with me and my tongue obsession this week? Can you say 'not getting any?')
Oh my camera is just to smart for me! sigh
Wow. All this camera talk is getting me kind of worked up. Whew. You people know how to party!
(Okay seriously, if I had to choose my Mr. Nikon or my husband...um...is there any room on that couch of yours for the husband?)
Congrats.
I yelled at my hubby that the puppy s#@t on the floor and so my 3 year old started running around repeating what I said. Hubby started laughing at this and man was I peeved at him.
Uhm, the repeating....yeah it gets worse. When you teach them not to say something and then you say it- they give you a lecture about not saying that word! Yikes!
Anyway- woo hoo on the camera! hope you get to use it soon!
You're so good. I have an inferior Canon Elph I bought 2 years ago, and I still haven't made it through the manual!
Congrats on the new toy :) That pic is just darling BTW....
Don't be afraid. Grab the manual, read a bit and start having fun. You won't regret it. If you need any help, just holla!
Yay for the new toy! I have suddenly become addicted to my camera and to Light Room.
Love the baby picture. SO cute!
My husband bought a NIKON and I'm scared of that camera, too. All I know is "set it to auto". My husband's photos come out a hundred times better since he knows how to use those other settings. Too complicated for me!
Guess I'm the only one to comment on Myron Cope's passing. I've never been a big football fan (though I will always be loyal to the Stillers and da Bears) but I always enjoyed listening to Myron. Who died in my childhood hood, Mt. Lebanon. Sniff.
I wave a Terrible Towel (pronounced towl in his memory.
Yaaaaay fun new toy! Yaaaay no toddler helmet!
I have our LOVELY pitbull sleeping with us too. It's... lovely... I swear... friggin lovely.
a new toyI'm officially jealous I got a new cheapy camera last fall and am less than enamored.
