The Toddler Talks, I Laugh

*******************************************

Me: Why are you licking your toes?
Toddler (while thrusting feet into my face): You want some?

*******************************************

Toddler: I want to sleep with Dora.

(She was referring to sleeping in her bed that is currently oozing fluffy Dora goodness in the form of sheets, pillowcases, and blankets. Even though I know that, it still cracked me up.)

*******************************************

Mommy (as we were driving through a thick cloud of Eau de Skunk): Alexis, do you smell the skunk?

Toddler: No, french fries.

*******************************************

Alexis (at 4:00 am, after literally bumping into me in the hallway): I go to bed.

(I smell victory coming around the corner. If I can just get complete cooperation from all the troops to stand our ground, we'll be there soon.)

*******************************************

Toddler (upon realizing that Mr. Husband was driving the truck in front of us as we were on our way to drop it off for repairs): Hi, Daddy!

Me: He can't hear you, honey.

Toddler (yelling): HI, DADDY! HEAR ME?

those were freakin' funny!

does she talk that clearly? or are you being nice enough to translate?...because Gavin's going on 4 and I sometimes still have no idea what the heck just came out of his mouth.
the other day I told Gavin "we need to stop for gas" and he replied, "gas? did you fart? you need 'scuse me?"

I couldn't stop laughing the whole time I pumped the gas.

She's funny like her momma :)

March 12, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJen

All of those statements were clear enough that I didn't have to translate for Mr. Husband. Given that I feel like I should be getting paid for my translation services most days, I'd say that's a pretty good indicator. Some days, though, even I have no freakin' idea what she's blabbing about.

You may be winning the war of the bed wills! Yay for my SBB.

And, 1. hubby's mad over his pressy (I just laughed and placed the over the towel on his pillo) 2. toddler's in awe of A supplying him THREE new flashlights 3. we decorated the windows 4. his lunch will be really cold at MDO tomorrow thanks to you. 5. & I'm really scared of the choc covered chips. Is that just too much heaven?

I think Dora totally sucks, but I think she's better than Barney. I'm so glad he's not en vogue anymore . . . those overly enthusiastic kids on that show scared the hell out of me.

Oh, and of course, your daughter is gorgeous!

What kind of french fries have you been feeding Alexis?? HA!

She's such a cutie! Looks like she's all set to go camping or something there. Hopefully the snow will be gone by August or so!

Well, depending on where you're getting your french fries, they reall y could smell like skunk. It's just when she starts describing your cooking that way that you have to worry ;-)

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterjayna

LOL! So did she yell all the way trying to get Daddy's attention? Love her outfit in that pic too!

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTootsie Farklepants

Thank you, again.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKater

Your kiddo always cracks me up.

I dont know if it's cuz my two are all grown up or that I never had a little girl, but I am just lovin her to pieces!!

Hallie :)

KidSpeak always cracks me up, but sharing the toes is just hysterical. Mistaking skunk for french fries may explain why she licks toes.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

She's a riot! A toe-licking riot.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJen

The hear me one made me laugh out loud :) Well, so did the toe licking. And the sleeping with Dora. As well as the french fries.

And her going to bed.

*Sigh* Would've been easier for both of us had I just typed "they all made me laugh".

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKathryn

That is hysterical! I can't wait for Toddler-speak!

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBecoming Mommy

LOL! I go to bed!! And why is it they think talking louder can make Daddy hear in a different turck?

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMelissa

Hi daddy hear me?
Love it! Soooo cute.

My little one isn't talking that much yet, but boy when he does I expect floods of words to come out.

Love the photo. She is sooo adorable.

I never told you this, but there is a little girl that goes to my sitters who reminds me so much of Alexis and when I see her I think "this is what Alexis must look like in person..." Her hair is a little lighter, but her name also starts with an "a". The other day the sitter told me that she had started running up with her arms open saying "I wove you." and if she does anything wrong before the sitter can say anything she goes: "I woooove you!"

So cute, but breaks the sitter right down and she can't figure out how to scold her at that point.

Sorry for blathering on...

LMAO! I love it!

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMarmarbug

Don't leave me hanging - did you lick her toes or not? Ha ha. She cracks me up.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterandi

Oh I love it. I don't know if your form of writing in a baby book took on the same as ma (AKA Blogging), but she'll be thankful you've kept these conversations. So sweet.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterjust jamie

Alexis is one funny little girl. She must make you laugh all day!

toddler talk rocks!

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterHolly

She should definitely get a gold star at daycare for her sharing skills.

I'd eat my toddler's toes if he'd let me. I love how little and meaty they are.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterCatwoman

skunk = french fries? priceless.

she's a pistol, that one!

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterjanet

Too cute! How old is she now? Just want to know when I can hope to have these wonderful conversations with my toddler...Keep sharing them, they make me laugh out loud at work.

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSarah O.

Okay, this kid is a HOOT! "You want some?" BWAHAHAHA!!! If this keeps up, you'll be able to turn her loose on the stand-up circuit by the time she's 5! And please thank her for me, cause I don't think I'm gonna be indulging in any french fries for a while now. HAHAHAHA!

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterkim-d

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterFlea

March 13, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterHRH

She is so amazing!

March 14, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterShellie

Precious! So my daughter used to have Wiggles sheets and I would always say that it was the only time she better ever be in bed with 4 men! I know, sometimes my mind, it's not a good place.

March 14, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAmy

OMG, she's just so cute and funny!

I think the french fries was wishful thinking, though...

March 14, 2008 | Unregistered Commentercaramama

Skunk smells like fries? Do we dare ask where you normally get your fast food??? LOL!! She's a hoot - just like her mama! Oh, and the next time you drive thru skunky stink, clear your mind and think STARBUCKS. They smell AMAZINGLY SIMILAR! LOL!
