Future Captain of the Litter Control Police

Mr. Husband and I have a running joke. Well, not so much a joke as a "He's Mean" sort of thing. He claims that I am a nag. He will add that I need to turn down the Nagometer and get off my Nagasawki. Naaaaaaaaaag, naaaaaaaaag, naaaaaaaaag (said in Motorcycle Shifting Voice). I have no idea what he is talking about.

I do, however, find extreme pride in the fact that Alexis has, at the tender age of 2 1/2, already dialed her Nagometer all the way up to 10 and aimed that sucker at Mr. Husband.

Yesterday we wandered through the drive-thru as Starbucks, as we are frequently wont to do on a Sunday afternoon. As the barista handed Mr. Husband my Grande Non-Fat Iced Caramel Macchiato out the window, he somehow didn't get a good enough grip on the sort of attached straw. It went tumbling to the ground. The barista handed Mr. Husband a new straw and we trudged along our merry way.

Except.

Apparently She Who Pretends Not to Hear Me has actually heard me utter the words "don't put your trash on the ground." She was APPALLED that Mr. Husband had the audacity to throw that straw on the ground and even MORE APPALLED that he didn't take two seconds to pick it up. She would. not. let. it. go.

As we drove down the highway, she could be heard lecturing him from the back. "Where's the paper?" "Throw that away!" "Daddy is bad." "Daddy, pick that paper up." Over and over and over and over she scolded him for his sloppy ways. He tried to appease her by apologizing, he tried to promise never to do it again, he tried everything.

I just laughed.

It's all good, just so long as she doesn't point the Nagometer at me.

Bwahaha! That's amazing. Way to get to her so early in life :)

The upside down pink glasses look is perfect for Alexis. Absolutely perfect.

If she's smart she'll keep it aimed right where it is. You don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I love it.My 6 yr old nags her sister which is really funnt because she does the same things that she is yelling at sister for.Since daddy isn't home we don't have anyone to nag to except each other.

I just love that picture. My 2yr old is always putting glasses on upside down. It's great.Especially when she puts on Ms. Potato Heads glasses which are WAY to small.I will try to get a pic next time.

Love that! The litter lesson I gave my 3yo back-fired on me, too. We walked two blocks to the park one afternoon and came home with the bottom of our stroller FILLED with every nasty piece of garbage his little eyes could spot! Way to go, me!

Love the new pic in the header!

Oh, she is a smartie, that Alexis.

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJenn

She knows with whom she should align herself.

Smart kid.

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLaski Gal

she becomes more and more girl, over toddler, every time I see a photo...

Nagometer... ha!

Awesome picture!

hee hee hee!

like the new colors!

Better for you to nag you about the proper use of trash then for her to point you out as the trash can. Yes my daughter thinks all trash should be given to me. "Here you go mom." "Give it the wrapper to MOM RIGHT NOW!"

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterjeneflower

Maybe you, me, and Alexis can start a movement, because litter is truly something that makes me lose my mind. People were looking at me at the playground the other day as I picked up litter all over the dang playground to throw away. People are PIGS!

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJen

It's wonderful that she's learning good habits though and she understood not to leave trash about.

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBecoming Mommy

That is the awesomest thing ever. Train 'er young! Go girl! lol

Ah, yes. Sarah does that too. My husband doesn't love it. I kind of do. She looks like her dad, but at least something she got from me ;-)

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterElisa

You go girl!

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterNap Warden

What a smart little girl. She's not going to take crap from anyone.

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered Commenternikki

My hubby thinks I'm a nag too, and I'm proud to say my daughter is a mini-nag in the works. She loves to give my husband a hard time when he gets food in his gotee.

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSarcasta-Mom

Isn't that the point of having a girl.....to be the next nagger in the house!

The new header is great!

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterVal

What a crack up!

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterHey it's Amy Shipp

Good girl. I am thinking she would really like my neat freak older son--he flips out when people do that. But wait--she nags and she might like the Steelers. Maybe not ;)
(I can't risk my son becoming a Steelers fan!)

Love the pic! How cute!!!

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDanielle

Canada called. And they will give Alexis citizenship any time she wants it. Because you know that littering is about the most serious crime you can commit in Canada, right?

We may not have the death penalty for murderers, but you try throwing a straw over the 49th parallel Mr. Husband, and you'll see how mean Canadians can become.

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterCatwoman

Haha! Listen to her go! At least she is nagging about the right things, like not littering. Although I'm sure that she'll be nagging about buying her Dora stuff, if she's not already.

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered Commentercaramama

Awesome! Way to take a stand, Alexis! You'll make a great activist someday! :)

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterNicki

Good girl.

Love the new header.

Stop by my place tomorrow if you have a minute. I have some thing for you.

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterEllyn

I forgot to tell you that I LOVE the new look, and that picture on top couldn't be any better. I don't know how you do it. Lately most of Dylan's pictures are either a blur, or a picture of his back running away.

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJen

Love it! Way to go, chica. You train her up right!

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLainey-Paney

way too funny. I hate it when my kids use my lines on me. I say it all the time, but gotta say it again - perfect post pic!

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBirdie

oh and I love the new blog look!

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBirdie

Oh, I am SO stealing the "Nagowsaki!" Hilarious!

...as are the upside down glasses.

September 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterElaine A.

As far as I can tell, that whole kid nagging thing won't end anytime soon. Gracie's latest is "Why do people say bad words? Sometimes do you say bad words, Mom? How come that's a bad word? Why do you say bad words sometimes? Why do you watch shows with bad words? Why do they beeeeeep words? Why, why, why are there bad words?????" It. Never. Ends.

I really need to stop saying hells damns and swears.

September 17, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterCecily R

"Daddy is bad?"

*snort*

That right there is a teachable phrase I'm going to start on with Sumo.
