Loving the Moving Guys
If it's not 6:00am on a weekend morning, you probably won't catch me turning on the TV to keep Alexis busy. It's not that I mind letting the TV do a little child entertaining from time-to-time, it's more that I prefer to use other methods (think chains, traffic, rivers, and/or an old refrigerator). The thing is that too much TV turns Alexis into an Angry Little Freak who can't hear a single word I say. I'd rather deal with never-ending pestering while I try to get something done than a little girl who yells, "NO! I WATCH MICKEY SHOW! GO AWAY!"
Mr. Husband, on the other hand, is a fan of the giant glowing babysitter. It's fine with me if he wants to deal with the Angry Little Freak, because it probably means I'm getting a chance to sleep more than four hours. Totally worth it. If he is on duty, he is more than welcome to handle things however he sees fit, just so long as no one is severely injured or dies.
Since I am not around when Alexis watches things like the Disney Channel, I had no idea that I was actually missing out on a little something something. Make that four something somethings.
Why did no one tell me that there are kinda-sorta-maybe-in-a-way hot guys on the Disney Channel? Y'all have been holding out on me.
So I made this little discovery a few months ago, and since then, the "Magic Roofers" have become my heroes. (I have no idea why Alexis calls them the "Magic Roofers" but I do admit I actually thought that was the name of the show up until about two weeks ago. Oops.) Not only are they kinda-sorta-maybe-in-a-way eye candy, they sing songs that don't make me want to find a box of sporks and gouge somebody's eyes out. It's always good when music doesn't make me sporky.
But. But. BUT! Not only do I not hate Imagination Movers, I think I might luuuuurve them. A lot. Ever heard that song, "I Want My Mommy?" OMG! Greatest song ever!
"I love my mommy
I love my daddy
But I’m happy in my bed at night
Cause I’ve got my pillow
And I’ve got my blanket
And I know that everything’s gonna be all right!"
A SONG THAT ENCOURAGES KIDS TO STAY IN THEIR OWN DAMN BEDS!
Be still my heart.
You know this is a cause near and dear to my heart. VERY near and dear my heart. My exhausted, sleep-deprived heart.
So. Here's the thing. Right around her birthday, Alexis started singing that song all the time. Also right around her birthday, she started staying in Her Own Damn Bed (the bed is forever going to be known as "Her Own Damn Bed"--it's an official title of sorts).
Coincidence?
I THINK NOT!
She's still not staying in her bed 100% of the time, but it's close.
And close is spectacular.
I love you, Imagination Movers!

i love the action shot of cody in the backround!!
I have never heard of this show...but I'm for stayin' in bed! Bring it on...
While I will give props to them for getting Alexis to stay in bed . . .
That show did nothing but give me the creeps when I used the magical glowing box to entertain E. There's just something about those four that sucks away every IQ point in a ten mile radius.
Aside from the songs. The songs were pretty catchy.
I admit, the show's better than most, but eye candy? I think you've been sniffing too much of Alexa's glue.
Oh, come on Debbie, they ARE kinda cute. Especially the one in the cowboy hat. And they ARE someone's sons. If they can sing to kids to help them grow up, I am there, too.
Honestly, I am a little scared of those 'men', but if they have a song about staying in bed at night, I am going to play it over and over and over for my 10 year old!
We love those guys. :)
I've never seen it. If you think they are hot, though, it is definitely time for Prison Break to come back on!
LOVE LOVE LOVE them! We just saw them LIVE last weekend here in Jersey. They were pretty good live, and they had the real guys from the Disney Channel. Not stand-ins!
And Rich, the one with the scribble sticks - the one with no headgear on in the picture - has 5 kids!! And that was the song he wrote for his kids a long time ago. Found that out at the show.
I see those guys when we're at the pediatrician's office. On TV - they're not really our doctors. But I had no idea the awesome powers they weilded over toddlers.
Um, I've seen Imagination Movers and ... er...
I think how they affected Alexis's sleep habits may have colored your view of them.
Just a little.
@Jayna--That's how I feel about The Wiggles. *shudder*
Dude - you've been watching too much Dora if these guys are seeming like eye candy.
Sadly(?) I've not seen this show because it is all Dora all the damn time here.
I love how Cody is chasing after Alexis. I know he loves her so much but she does have something in her hand ;)
@Pam--She's got Marc Andre Fleury (Pens goalie) trading cards in one hand and a little toy Queen in the other. He just plain loves to chase after her and knock her down. In the mud. When she's wearing a white coat.
LOL We love us some Imagination Movers too. In fact, Savanna's watching it as I type this. And yes, I agree that they are almost hot. One more than the others, but I shall not say who. :-x
I haven't heard that song, but they come up with some good ones!
I have never heard of these guys. But anything that may help Alexis stay in her own bed? Has got to be good.
I wonder if they have something that will work for getting a 16 year old to do his own laundry or make his bed?
I KNOW!!! Imagination Movers are...well, they're actually okay! There's not a "mousker-ho" or a "mousker-tool" anywhere. To quote my husband, "Hey, these guys don't suck!"
Ok, I'm setting my DVR, because my little man HATES his bed.
We bought one of their CDs before the Movers (as they're called at our place) even had their own show! They used to do those quirky little between-the-shows shows. That song actually got Oldest Boy to sleep in his own big boy bed at night, too. This makes them my heroes, and I really like Scott...he's my favorite;)
Proof that are kids are one and the same, Little Man was OBSESSED with the Imagination Movers a few months back and used to make me sing the f'ing song all the time (Imagination Movers! You gotta think about it... Imagination Movers! You gotta talk about it... Insert noise of my brain exploding here).
I'm pretty sure I blogged about the horribleness of this show, so I'm going to pretend that you never said no one told you about it, hmmph. Of course, my post was not a sales pitch for the show at all, which is probably why you didn't latch onto it like a Hershey's hug.
But for the record? And you know I love you dearly. I'm going to blame your bad taste in men on your sleep deprivation, because except for MAYBE Rich and his scribble sticks, none of those guys have any iota of hotness in them.
And dear God, could their token girl friend be any more annoying? And don't even GET ME STARTED on the crappiness of Uncle Knit Knots!
Thank the Lord my child is now too obsessed with playing Wii Tennis to be interested in television and the Imagination Movers.
Look at it this way. They're all yours. No competition from me.
They also have a song called "Take Your Medicine"...another BIG challenge in our house. Shoot me a note if you want a copy of the CD...
Well, I used to think those guys were just plain annoying, but now I kind of see them as saviors! Wow!
Glad the TV (or at least this show) is becoming your friend and helping Alexis stay in bed. Whatever gets you more sleep is A-okay with me!
I just googled Imagination Movers (they should make "googled" a word). Either they are hotter on TV, there is a different definition of hot at 6am, or people who keep the kid in bed automatically get the title "hot". I'm not seeing the hottness :)
So which one's your favorite? It's kinda like The Wiggles, you gotta have a favorite!
p.s. adore the blurry flying puppy and the tights in the photo! : ) Oh, and the cute kid too...
I have never seen this show, but WOOT for keeping the kids in their own bed. Gotta love any show that will get a parent a bit more sleep.
Hmmm, me thinks we need to give the Magic Roofers another chance. the show annoyed me the couple times we tried it - but if it'll keep her in her bed? ALL for that!
When my kids were little there used to be a show on Nick called The Elephant Show. I loved that show.
All the woman in our neighborhood had a crush on Bram. (I think that was his name)
Sounds like they did the same thing, sing songs to make the kids do things.
Sounds like they're miracle workers. But when did the definition of hot guys change? ;)
Oh. Hi.
I love them too! Even my 8 year old likes them. I just wish she'd listen more closely to the "stay in your own bed" song as she easily ends up in our bed 2-3 nights per week. *sigh* . I love that Alexis calls them the Magic Roofers. Too funny!
