Up and Away

In an attempt to repay Alexis for her phenomenal display of patience and understanding while we prepared the house for sale, I took her to see Up this past weekend. She's officially at the age where movies at the theater are fun, and I'm always game for a Pixar flick. Or two. Or all of them.

It was a phenomenal movie. Seriously, phenomenal. I'd even go so far as to say that the first five minutes or so are probably the best five minutes of any movie ever made in the history of movies, even if I was totally bawling like a baby all through them.

Alexis, for her part, was also a big fan of the movie. Fortunately, some of the heavier overtones of the movie were lost on her little brain. All she saw was the fantasy and majesty of a whole lot of balloons carrying a man and his house along to the destination of his dreams.

She loved it.

When we returned back home, Alexis ran to find Cody so she could tell him about the movie. Seriously, she's telling him about the balloons and the house and the talking dogs in this photo.

As I melted from cuteness, she morphed the conversation into being about The (New) House. She told Cody, "We're going to tie lots of balloons and fly the new house to Disney World!"

I can't say that I hate that idea.

We loved it toooo!!!! FABULOUS movie!!! This was the first movie that Kennedy actually laughed at all the right times EVERY time! It was great! Even Keeghan loved it! As for Alexis, omg SO cute that she told Cody all about it! I want to fly my house to Disney World too!!! Think they would mind?!

Okay. The kid telling the dog all about the movie.. the cutest thing I've heard or seen all day.

My kids loved the movie too. They saw it with dad, which means I was at home in my house all by myself enjoying the peace and quiet that NEVER happens in this place... Yes. It was a happy day. :) But they came home with GLOWING reviews.

Up is on my list of ways to kill summer boredom...also the braids Alexis hair? Killer. My kid, she doesn't have enough hair yet. She is three...where's the hair already?

Glad she liked it! So, do you think Charlotte is old enough for the movies yet? I worry that anything non-princess won't hold her attention very long.

I loved that movie too. I cried and laughed, lather, rinse, repeat. Doug was totally Kerrygirl and Alpha was the Hound.

And Cody is adorable. I love how dogs always pay such rapt attention to you when you talk to them. I bet Alexis really thinks he understands everything she says.

I love how intently Cody is listening in that first picture! At least it looks like it! HA!

I may need to take the older kiddo to see this one...

Gotta see this movie!

@Corrie--Dude, Alexis has NO hair. Still. Those braids were glued in place, and even then a little magic was involved.

Dude - you cry at movies? I just lost some respect for you. Though I will admit, that movie looks awesome.

i can not wait to see this movie! Maybe tomorrow evening... I adore Pixar... and alexis is so adorable! If only your dog could talk like doug! :)

Aww that is so sweet that she was telling Cody all about the movie and then imagining she would take her new house and float to Disney via balloons. I love her imagination! I am a little hesitant to take my girls to the movie because my 8 yr old usually doesn't like 3D stuff all that well, but after your comments we just may have to give it a try!

Awww! You almost made me bawl (at work!!) because now I miss my Ex-dog even more and wish she were still around. Who will my girls whisper their secrets to?! (Umm, besides each other, of course.)

The Ex and I are taking Gracie to see Up this weekend or next. It will be her first movie in the theaters. Glad to hear it will be worthy! (Note to self: bring tissues.)

I enjoyed it, but I found it to be way too dark for a G rating. I think it is def for the older kid audience. Mine was scared of the dogs for two days thinking they'd try to attack him. I also cried, but I also cried at the end of Bolt.

That is too freaking adorable! Maybe you'd trade dogs with me? I'd even take Meg. Just don't read my post today before you agree.

Oh, I can't wait to see this movie...we saw the preview when we saw Bolt and ever since then, the kids have been talking about it. Glad to hear it's worth the time!
I also love that Alexis is telling Cody about the movie...just too cute!

I haven't seen it yet but it looks great. My 2 year old still gets really fidgety when he runs out of Raisinets, so we might have to wait until it comes out on video.

Yes, Up was SOOO good. I will certainly be buying it and hoping that Alex falls in love with it. I was sobbing at the beginning.

I love that Alexis had to tell Cody about the movie! So cute!

That first picture is priceless, as are the braids. I'm anxiously awaiting that flick to hit the drive-in. Hopefully this weekend!

She is so cute there talking to the dog! And seriously, what a great idea to fly the house away to whereever you want to be. I'd fly mine to Australia

June 4, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

Brilliant idea! Think of the money you'll save.

June 4, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterElisa

I'm melting from the cuteness of those pictures!
