It Sure Didn't Take Long for Me to Get Bored of Numbering These
I always figure that if I'm going to screw with Alexis' head, I should do it multiple times at once, instead of spreading it out over several weeks. So, of course I chose the move as the perfect time to switch her to a twin bed.
We've had the bed for years. It's an antique that we found at a local flea market-type store. Alexis seems to like it, but not as much as she likes this:
That's Rainbow Light. Alexis lurves her Rainbow Light. I learned a little late that the quickest way to her heart was through a new lamp and not through some crazy noise-making toy. Whatever. Now I know.
Alexis lurves her Rainbow Light so much that she insists on sleeping with it on. I would normally fight her on that, but considering the whole New Room/New House/New Everything thing we have going on, I decided to let it slide. Fine, kid, sleep with the light on. Whatever. I'll just turn it off after she goes to sleep.
So, last night I wandered down the hall to her room to turn out the light, and promptly freaked the hell out.
Her bed was empty.
I rushed back to our bedroom, even though I was positive I hadn't heard her wander down the hall. I listened closely in the dark and only heard two snorers, Mr. Husband and the Bulldog. No Alexis.
I rushed back to Alexis' room. I looked on the floor. I looked under the bed. I tried desperately to figure out where the little night walker could be. Then I saw her.
In her old bed.
I had put it in her room with the twin, just in case she resisted the bed switcheroo. It just didn't occur to me that she would pull her own bed switcheroo, so I didn't even see her there, right in front of my face.
Thanks for the heart attack, kiddo.

BTW, I'm 100% responsible for any bizarre paint issues in that room. That's the room I'm working on right now, since I'm scared of the red room.
Oh, her new bed is really pretty!
That's actually really sweet.
Awwww, she's adorable. Her bed is cute! Tell her I said to stop giving mommy heart failure it's not good for us mommas lol.
Her new bed is gorgeous!
THAT? Is so cute. Not the heart-attack part, of course.
That is sweet! But yeah, I would have about had a heart attack too!
The rainbow light is cool!
Love the rainbow light! I'd rock that in my room, too :)
I know the heart attack feeling! I love that Alexis moved from her super sweet, awesome twin bed back to her toddler bed :)
That bed is beautiful...care to share what store you got it at?
Hey, at least she went back to her OWN bed and not into yours.
It's the Dora sheets, not the bed. You'll have to see if you can find some twin sheets w/kid prints. We got Transformer ones at Target. :-)
Aww how cute! You could put some really soft dim bulbs in the rainbow light so it's more of a night light. Oh I know, put PINK lights in there!!
And I agree, better she went to her old bed then your bed!
LOVE LOVE LOVE her lamp! You know her old bed is already broken in and comfortable to sleep in the new bed just isnt as comfortable, but hey as long as she is sleeping thru the night in her room does it really matter where shes sleeping?
You could have Alexis put her baby (or stuffed bully?) to bed in her old bed and see if that helps. Bee has given me more than one heart attack that way. SHe went through a phase where she would get out of her (new) toddler bed and climb into her sister's bed. Only I couldn't see her hidden behind her sister. Then there was the time a few months ago where she got out of her bed and decided to sleep on the couch of all places!! It took me ten minutes to find her and I was thisclose to panicking.
Good thing she's so adorable, huh? :)
@MsTeb--Accentique in Bridgeville. It's an antique store, but most of their stuff is in rough condition, so I think it's more of a flea market sort of place. It's a GREAT store because they suck at pricing things. We got a kick-ass British pub table there for $35 that a "real" antique dealer would have sold for over $1K. I think we paid something like $20 for that bed.
And y'all are SO right about her staying in her own room. I'm not jinxing anything by saying how that's gone since we moved, but MAN do I love her new room. So, so, so, so, so much.
It FREAKS me out when they wander at night. Half the time they're scared of the dark but they'll wander through a completely dark house? What's up with that?
So sweet....sorry about the heart attack though. At least you didn't wake up the whole house with a scream!
Oh and I love the light and the old fashioned bed.
My kid (the weirdo she is) went from a play pen, to crib w/a toddler guard instead of a front rail, to a full size bed w/ the toddler guard. Sometimes at 3-4 am she will come down to sleep on the sofa, i think cause she wants to be closer to us since our room is on the first floor. I don't think I need the toddler guard still, cause she never falls off the sofa....
Aw, that is so sweet! (And probably heart attack inducing.)
She looks so big in her little bed now!
We are also going through a move, new house, new bed, etc with my DD(4) except she went from a queen to a twin. I am amazed she hasn't fallen out of bed yet...Oh wait...that's b/c she's in MY BED every nt. UGH!
So happy (and very jealous of course) Alexis stayed in her room for you.
