If Ever There Was a Conversation That I Wish I Had on Video, This Is It
"Are you ready to watch Steelers tonight?" I asked Alexis as I carried her to the car from the daycare playground.
Her eyes popped wide open, she giggled, and then she excitedly yelled, "YES!"
"Who is your favorite Steeler?" I asked.
"Ummm . . . Sidney Crosby," she replied, glee still dripping from her voice.
"Sidney Crosby plays hockey, silly," I told her.
"No, he doesn't," she said. Everything is an argument. EVERYTHING. "He plays poofball," she continued.
I laughed. "No, he plays hockey for the Penguins," I continued.
"OH YEAH!" she replied, in a voice that made it sound like she had just uncovered a stash of chocolate-covered potato chips (yummmmmmmmm).
She thought for a moment, looked at me, grinned and yelled, "POLAMALUUUUUUUUU! He's my favorite!" then jumped out of my arms and stood in the daycare parking lot doing a Polamalu dance.
That? Is MY girl!

I LOVE her. Sigh. I just hope baby Bella will be just like her. :) Tell her Sidney Crosby and Palamaluuuuuu is my favorite too.
Just so you know, the arguing doesn't stop. Ever. You will never be right again. Oh wait, this evening Michelangelo actually told me I was right and she was wrong. Not THAT'S a conversation I'd like to have recorded.
I'm ignoring the football talk even though it's on in front of me at this very minute and they keep talking about Palamalu.
Her sports fanaticism just kills me and I love it!
That would have been awesome on video!
Here We Go Steelers! Hopefully Polamalu makes a speedy recovery!
I was going to comment on the post, but then I saw that spider over there. What is that?! I've never seen a white one. Kind of creepy.
my heart just sang.
(that is one phenomenal kid.)
She's my favorite. I mean, other than my kids. Obviously.
And that freaky spider is on your sidebar. I don't like it. GO AWAY.
She is so frickin' adorable!!! You've got a good one there...even if she is a Pittsburgh fan ;) (Yeah, like I have room to talk...my football and hockey team of choice suck donkey balls...but they're my original home-town team & I lubs them)
I'm just amazed at how vocal she is. I've seen a lot of change in Indie over the past months since we've had her and been taking her out into the world. But, I wish I could get her to be as outspoken as Alexis.
Holy cow, she sure IS your daughter.
next time this "polamalu" dance happens, you better document it because i am very interested in how it goes.
WHY don't you carry a video camera with you at all times? WHY????
That's awesome. Love that darling girl. She and Monkey.. I'm telling you.
@honeywine--There are two sides to that vocal coin, and OMG does one of them make me want to punch out my eardrums at times. She talks, all right. And talks and talks and talks and talks and talks and talks and talks and talks and talks.
@Rachel--Because I carry Mr. Canon around with me all the time. I can't handle any more sexy electronics!
I was thinking about you guys last night while we were having our football party. After watching Mr. Polamalu insert himself in every single defensive play EVER (at least until The Injury), I thought to myself: Self? It is too bad he want to play football instead of work construction because he could fix ALL of the Burgh's road issues in under a month. He'd be just a blur, running from one road closure to another. It's a shame he'll be out for so long (I can say that with a straight face since we won't face you til the postseason) but maybe Alexis can love on Hines Ward in the meantime. Who can resist that smile?
I want to play poofball too. Alexis is so freaking awesome. I second the video camera.
Awesome.
When the Pumpkin sees football on TV, she says, "Go Redskins!" It doesn't matter who is playing or if it's a clip from 20 years ago. Football = "Go Redskins!" We are proud parents.
Also, I taught her to sing "Hail to the Redskins." She asked UNPROMPTED if we could sing it at bedtime the other night! Our girls are great!
DUDE. This is awesome. As is, is she available to marry my son?
@Beanski--When she's 35. At the right price. *Ahem.*
Very cute.
We're weird and don't watch football in this house.
Well, unless the Cleveland Browns are doing well. Which is like, never.
I admit I was sad to see your man injured. For the sake of all people who love good football, I hope he's back soon. Watching him play football is downright poetic.
