A Mary Kay Giveaway!
I am SO not a girly girl. I fail miserably at caring a lot about how my hair looks. I don't get worked up in a frenzy about shoes or clothes. Most of all, I am very barely competent when it comes to makeup. I shop at the big box stores, generally grabbing whatever is on sale.
Girly girls everywhere are cringing right now. I know. I KNOW.
So it turns out that if you look past the big box store selection, you can find lip gloss that lasts longer than an hour. You can find a mascara that doesn't flake and make your contacts turn into irritating weapons of mass eye destruction. You can even find blush that doesn't go from invisible to clown levels instantly.
WHY DIDN'T YOU GUYS TELL ME?
Fortunately, BlogHer and Mary Kay let me find out for myself.
In the interest of full disclosure, I would have never ever tried Mary Kay products if they hadn't been sent to me to review. I'm a creature of habit and procrastination, so it's not like I have the mental competence required to order makeup before I actually need it.
It's time that I learn because HOLY COW, YOU GUYS.
Let's start with the most life-changing thing I discovered in that box.
What's that you're saying? It's just a compact? NO IT IS NOT.
In that tiny little compact there is enough room for a Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color, three Mary Kay Mineral Eye Colors, and brushes. You can switch out which colors you have in it, so it really is like having an entire makeup bag in one neat case. I guess it is possible to freshen up makeup on the go without carrying around 17,034 tiny little containers of makeup. I had no idea!
I can't even express how impressed I was with that little Compact Mini. Seriously. I'm such a dork, I know.
Also in that box was this:
Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss in Mango Tango and Rock 'n' Red. First of all, I've lived all my years thinking I can't pull off bright red lipstick. I just found out I've been wrong all of my years. The Mango Tango especially was a great color for me. As an added bonus, it wasn't sticky or gross feeling.
The big box store stuff lasts about ten minutes. I'm just sayin'.
Life-changing stuff, this Mary Kay.
I also tried:
TimeWise Repair Volu-Firm Eye Cream: It had the greatest applicator in the history of applicators, and it worked. I'm still as sleep-deprived as ever, but my eyes aren't giving that away.
Lash Love Mascara, Ultimate Mascara, and Lash Primer: The Lash Love is fantastic for everyday use because it's not heavy but rather just enough to make it look like I have eyelashes. Which I don't. The Ultimate Mascara is far more dramatic, so it's great for a night out on the town. I also tried the Lash Love Mascara in the waterproof version. I liked the regular non-waterproof better because it seems to last perfectly all. day. long. As for the Lash Primer, who knew such a thing existed? I like it. It helps prevent that clumpy spider-legs look because you can lengthen without adding color and then apply just a single coat of mascara on top.
TimeWise Microdermabrasion Kit: I've tried a lot of microdermabrasion kits over the years, and this one was my favorite. It does the trick and isn't harsh. It left my face all sorts of soft and fancy.
All in all, I think I became a Mary Kay fan. Whoddathunkit?

Use an eyelash curler and heat it up a little bit with a blow dryer to get the curl to stay!
Lining the top of your brow with same color shadow and then combing through is the easiest way for polished looking eyebrows!
My favorite beauty tip is to put a little white eyeliner along the inner corner of the eyes to make them appear bigger.
Thanks for the cool giveaway!

i have learned to always wash my makeup off before i go to bed, and to moisturize lots!
My best beauty tip (that I learned the hard way) is: don't overpluck your eyebrows!

I have always had trouble with my eye shadow staying were I put it. It would always end up in the creases of my eyes within an hour. The best thing I found was Mary Kay's eye primer. I can put that on and then my eye shadow and it stays there all day! Although, I do admit that is the only Mary Kay product that I use. I really should check out more of what they have to offer.
Use moisturizer and give your face a makeup free day every now and then!
Apply a good serum under your eyes before bed. It makes a huge difference in the morning even when I get far too little sleep.

Thanks for the chance to win!
The greatest beauty tip I’ve learned is put on a moisturizing mask before putter on makeup. Your skin will absorb the foundation much better.

The best make-up tip: LESS IS MORE! :)
But really, moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. And that includes drinking plenty of water.
Use vaseline to take off your makeup
I would love this.
Ear rings and a great neckline complete a look. It's about more than your face and hair.

Back to the basics: moisturize early and often.
A May Kay consultant once gave me this great tip; put your mascara on the bottom lashes first to prevent smudging.
Always put a light eyeshadow on the inner corners of your eyes! It makes you look much more awake.
It sounds so obvious but always always always take off your makeup before bed -- so important!
Drink plenty of water for your face to look its best.
I use the eye shadow applicator to apply some to my eybebrows
Set your foundation with some mineral powder.

Use vasoline to keep lips soft.
Use a moisturizer with SPF daily to keep your skin fresh.
Thank you for such a sweet giveaway! I love Mary Kay! <3
Anyway, my tip that works great for those of us with a tendency towards dry skin:
After face foundation/powder has been applied, take just a DAB of moisturizer and lightly apply
around those areas where your face tends to crease & wrinkle. It helps prevent those unsightly caked
lines where makeup has a tendency to settle, plus it gives your face a fresh, dewy appearance :D
I just recently discovered primer and I like that I don't need to apply layers of mascara with it

My best beauty tip is to emphasize your lips OR your eyes - not both. It will keep you from looking over made up.
My daughter's dance team uses Mary Kay.
I use moisturizer under foundation. I also put a bit of argon oil on my face and then rub it through my hair especially in the winter months when it is dry to keep the hair shiny and the flyaway down.
I learned to put a little white eyeshadow in the inner corner of your eyelids to make your eyes look bigger, and it makes your eyeshadow color stand out more!
I love Mary Kay products! I would love to win!!
ALWAYS curl your lashes. I didn't discover this trick until I was almost 30, and thought, because I have naturally long lashes, that they didn't need curled. WRONG! Curling opens up your whole eye!
My makeup tip is to warm up the eyelash curler with the hair dryer for a second or two. It helps curl them better.
