A Mary Kay Giveaway!
I am SO not a girly girl. I fail miserably at caring a lot about how my hair looks. I don't get worked up in a frenzy about shoes or clothes. Most of all, I am very barely competent when it comes to makeup. I shop at the big box stores, generally grabbing whatever is on sale.
Girly girls everywhere are cringing right now. I know. I KNOW.
So it turns out that if you look past the big box store selection, you can find lip gloss that lasts longer than an hour. You can find a mascara that doesn't flake and make your contacts turn into irritating weapons of mass eye destruction. You can even find blush that doesn't go from invisible to clown levels instantly.
WHY DIDN'T YOU GUYS TELL ME?
Fortunately, BlogHer and Mary Kay let me find out for myself.
In the interest of full disclosure, I would have never ever tried Mary Kay products if they hadn't been sent to me to review. I'm a creature of habit and procrastination, so it's not like I have the mental competence required to order makeup before I actually need it.
It's time that I learn because HOLY COW, YOU GUYS.
Let's start with the most life-changing thing I discovered in that box.
What's that you're saying? It's just a compact? NO IT IS NOT.
In that tiny little compact there is enough room for a Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color, three Mary Kay Mineral Eye Colors, and brushes. You can switch out which colors you have in it, so it really is like having an entire makeup bag in one neat case. I guess it is possible to freshen up makeup on the go without carrying around 17,034 tiny little containers of makeup. I had no idea!
I can't even express how impressed I was with that little Compact Mini. Seriously. I'm such a dork, I know.
Also in that box was this:
Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss in Mango Tango and Rock 'n' Red. First of all, I've lived all my years thinking I can't pull off bright red lipstick. I just found out I've been wrong all of my years. The Mango Tango especially was a great color for me. As an added bonus, it wasn't sticky or gross feeling.
The big box store stuff lasts about ten minutes. I'm just sayin'.
Life-changing stuff, this Mary Kay.
I also tried:
TimeWise Repair Volu-Firm Eye Cream: It had the greatest applicator in the history of applicators, and it worked. I'm still as sleep-deprived as ever, but my eyes aren't giving that away.
Lash Love Mascara, Ultimate Mascara, and Lash Primer: The Lash Love is fantastic for everyday use because it's not heavy but rather just enough to make it look like I have eyelashes. Which I don't. The Ultimate Mascara is far more dramatic, so it's great for a night out on the town. I also tried the Lash Love Mascara in the waterproof version. I liked the regular non-waterproof better because it seems to last perfectly all. day. long. As for the Lash Primer, who knew such a thing existed? I like it. It helps prevent that clumpy spider-legs look because you can lengthen without adding color and then apply just a single coat of mascara on top.
TimeWise Microdermabrasion Kit: I've tried a lot of microdermabrasion kits over the years, and this one was my favorite. It does the trick and isn't harsh. It left my face all sorts of soft and fancy.
All in all, I think I became a Mary Kay fan. Whoddathunkit?

My beauty tip is for a simple smokey eye look line with a black eyeliner and then use a moist eyeshadow brush to smudge the eyeliner.

Tip--get checked yearly by a dermatologist. Best advice I ever got.
Waterproof mascara keeps my lashes curled longer!
Never use eye liner all the way across the bottom of your eyes. It will make your eyes look small! Once finished applying the eyeliner, smudge/blend with a q-tip.
moisturizer with sunscreen....everyday!
My beauty tip is to use a good moisturizer every day as well as sunscreen!!!

I could use some beauty tips! How about put mascara on before eyeliner.
When plucking your eyebrows, the outside end should stop at a point where is makes a straight line from your nostril, through the outside corner of your eye to the end of the eyebrow.
Use lip pencil, it prevents lip color from bleeding.

always remove your make-up before you go to bed.
Always moisturize!!
I'm so far from a girlie girl it's unreal but I dig Mary Kay stuff. They make a hand moisturizing stuff that is beyond awesome. Make up tips? Always match you foundation and/or powder to your skin color seasonally , your skin color changes and blend your foundation or powder into the neck & throat so you don't look silly.
I put a bit of vasoline under my face make-up. It goes on smoother
and lasts longer.
Over the years, the best advice that has helped me long term to to use the best moisturizer you can possibly afford - now that I'm older, I go for the best serum I can afford!
I've been to some Mary Kay parties, and I love the product..this would be an awesome gift to myself!
My best makeup tip would be: DON'T GO OVERBOARD ON THE BLUSH! Maybe 2-3 quick dabs of blush on your cheeks is enough. Now, we don't want anyone asking if your profession is being a clown.
I like to use baking soda as a scrub. I've heard that blasting your body with cold water after a shower really keeps all your skin toned, but I'm too chicken to try!
My best friend is make-up primer and the roll on to deflate puffy eyes - thanks!
Cool
If I have to pick at my face...I ALWAYS use neosporin almost immediately!
For full lips go for a glossy look. Try first outlining the perimeter of your lips using a concealer brush dipped in bronzer two shades deeper than your skin tone. Then, top pout with gold, peach, or coral gloss.
Always curl your eyelashes =)
Never pump air into your mascara...leave the brush in the tube and pump!

Definitely moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!
Moisturize before anything else. You don't want your skin drying out after applying anything on your face.
i use foundation on my eyelids to help keep the powder on
Being a previous Mary Kay consultant and having an Aunt that is a higher ranking consultant I learned a little bit in my travels.. The one thing I did learn above all, and I have noticed some people do this still.. if it does not say "eye" on the bottle, don't put it on your eyes!! It can be very harmful and damaging! I hope this somewhat helps! :)
Not really a tip but soap and water work better than any make up remover I have found!
My daughter taught me to brighten the eye use a white liner on the bottom lash line of your eye.
Always continue foundation down onto neck slightly so that you don't have a definite line between neck and face.

I really can't think of any tips that haven't been mentioned... I do recommend using Chapstick/Carmex every night as part of your bedtime routine though! You will ALWAYS wake up to perfect, soft lips in the morning! :)
What a great giveaway! Happy to tweet about it! :) https://twitter.com/AngieJames121/status/285581572005064705
I always use a primer or sunscreen underneath my foundation..it makes it last so much longer.
My best tip is to use a cotton swab to clean up any little make up mishaps to avoid having to re-apply. Thanks for the chance to win!

Tip: To cover facial skin imperfections, I apply a thick cream concealer onto the blemish or discoloration. Then I lightly press my face with a makeup sponge.

Moist wipes make great makeup removers when traveling
I lick and stick a half of a square of toilet paper under my eye while I do my eye shadow and eyeliner, so that the dusty residue doesn't fall on the skin under my eyes and make me look like I have black eyes! :)
