Curse. Broken.
It has been documented.
More than once.
I don't do birthdays. Not mine, anyway.
The last time the AFC Championship game was held on January 23rd at Heinz Field, it didn't end so well. (Understatement of the year, right there.)
But, I've been saying This Year is going to be different. This Year is going to be great, even if I have to kick my own ass left and right to make sure I choose to make it great.
Today started out like there was a giant Dyson in the sky. It hovered overhead, sucking the joy away. And then today went downhill fast. WAY fast. The details aren't important.
However, Today ended with a sleeping kid curled up in my lap, a piece of ice cream cake in my hand, and a Steelers victory on my TV. It simply doesn't get any better than that.
This is going to be the best year ever.
This makes three Superbowls in Alexis' five years. Add in that the Penguins definitely don't suck, and it's a good thing we have the Pirates to teach Alexis about losing.

The Pirates can always be counted on to provide an exercise in humility.
Meanwhile, what a game!
I could think of worse fates than to share a birthday with the great Myron Cope. Lucky for you, you don't share the same YEAR!
Glad your birthday ended on the up!
WOOHOO!! You KNOW I never root for the Steelers. In honor of your birthday, I was pulling for them. I didn't watch the game...but I was hoping that they'd win for you :D
Glad your birthday ended on a REALLY good note, and that the suckage was left in the dust. I know a thing or two about sucky bday's...so I'm very happy...very, very happy that yours wasn't complete in suckage :D
So are you coming to Texas for the Superbowl game? Arlington (where Cowboy statium is) is really close to my house ... ok 30 minutes away but that's about how long it takes to get anywhere aroud here. I can take you out for yummy mexican food. I'd even be willing to make your Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip and bring nila waffers! haha
Sorry your weekend started out stinky. At least it got a little better. And Obviously YOUR child is the STEELERS good luck charm. And with her faith in the Piarates, I have a feeling they will eventually have a winning season as well. Heck if the Rangers could FINALLY make it to the World Series your team can too!
OH, BTW don't talk about sucky bdays.... I turn the big 40 on the 2nd of Feb. No Bueno!
I am also a 1/23 birthday. I love your blog, you totally crack me up. Happy belated birthday!!!!!
Huh. Football is still going on? :) There is an extra bed at my place if you guys go all crazy and decide to fly down...
Pittsburgh - the new standard for the moniker "Title Town USA." Congrats to y'all kicking some Jets booty, and best of luck for the game in a couple of weeks - I think it will be yours to lose. :)
My son turned 5 yesterday and I didn't even think about the fact that 3/5 years they have been in the super bowl! I always told him that he is the good luck charm for the steelers. :) So Awesome! Happy birthday!
I told you I ordered you a great one. This year will be amazing for you.
That's awesome! This post totally made me smile! And three in five years. i hadn't even realized that... wow...
Grown up birthdays are always rough in our house. Lots of crap from past family ugliness. I'm glad yours was redeemed. :)
