Enjoy the Silence
The female members of this family have made it a habit to wander into the wide world and explore each night. Sometimes it's on foot, often it's by bike, but regardless, we roam the neighborhood nearly every evening.
It's a good thing.
There are patterns emerging, of course. The first and most prominent pattern is OMG ALEXIS NEVER STOPS TALKING. She's totally and completely obsessed with dance and cheer right now, so all she can think about is back handsprings and competition team tryouts and blah, blah, blah.
I love her enthusiasm.
I'd love it even more if it didn't cause my ears to want to cry.
The other pattern that is emerging is that OH DEAR THERE ARE TWO OF THEM. Mila loves to talk just as much as Alexis. Her vocabulary is appropriately limited given that she's only 11 months-old, but goodness. She never stops.
Dog.
Dog.
Dog. Dog. Dog.
Dog.
Dog. Dog. Dog.
Dog.
Dog.
DOG.
As we wander up and down the sidewalks, Alexis speaks in a never-ending loop. Mila loops right over top of her, constantly in search of a dog or making sure that everyone else sees the dog that she sees and did she mention DOG? Because DOG! The kid pants at dogs when they pant near her, so I think she is under the impression that she is a member of the pack. Which, that's cool. If she wants to be a dog, she can be a dog. Maybe that way she won't ever end up talking about dance nonstop like a certain someone else.
Who am I kidding? She will totally end up finding an obsession just like dance.
I'm doomed to never having a moment of silence again.
(And I kinda maybe love it. Shhhhh! Don't tell the girls!)

My son, who just turned 2, is Thomas obsessed and is spouting out multiple new words per day so silence is quickly getting to be a rare thing around here before 8pm.
