Fruit Pizza
One of my most favoritest things to make is fruit pizza. I love it because it's easy, it looks good, and it's OMG-BACK-AWAY-FROM-THE-FRUIT-PIZZA-IT'S-MINE-MINE-MINE delicious. Really, I'm going to get that adjective embroidered onto a shirt so I can wear it every time the stuff is in our house. I might also keep a spork in each hand, just in case I need to stab/gouge any fingers.
Anyway.
You're "supposed" to make the stuff using a round pizza pan, but I can't seem to ever remember to buy one, so I use a cookie sheet. I like square pizza anyway. This is where you should just nod and agree, and decide that it's OK to call a square dessert a "pizza." Much thanks.
Fruit Pizza
You'll need:
- 1 package Pillsbury sugar cookie dough (the tube)
- 2 packages cream cheese
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- assorted fresh fruit (sliced, if appropriate)--strawberries, blueberries, peaches, bananas, kiwi all work well
- lemon juice
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray non-stick spray on a pizza pan or cookie sheet. You can also line the pan with foil, just make sure to do something to keep the cookie dough from sticking. Because it will. Bad.
Spread the cookie dough all over the pan.
Bake until lightly browned, about 15 minutes.
Allow the crust to cool.
In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, vanilla extract, and sugar. Mix until well-blended.
Realize that the girl-child has discovered your blueberry stash and send the husband to buy more.
Spread the cream cheese mixture over top of the cookie crust.
Top with fruit. Sprinkle the lemon juice over the top to help keep the fruit from turning brown. (Seriously, it's magical. Bananas will stay fresh and edible for a day or two when coated with lemon juice.)
Start beating people off with a stick if you plan on getting a piece of it. It's within the Rules of Fruit Pizza to put electrified fencing and man-eating crocodiles to use as well.

OMG that looks soooooo good. I love fruit for dessert so I am definitely going to have to try this out. OJ also works for keeping fruit looking fresh (apples, bananas) so I like to put oranges or orange juice (or both) in fruit salad to keep it looking good longer.
That looks fabulous! I may have to make one this week.
i want that for breakfast. right now!
(man, i must live under a rock since i've never seen this before. thanks for the eye opener.)
for memorial day (and maybe the fourth of july) i'm going to make this, but without the kiwi... line the strawberries, bananas and blueberries up like the american flag. yay you for giving me something that even *i* can bring to a picnic!!
oh and you make it all fancy and everything! When I make it, I just close my eyes and throw the fruit on. Your pizza actually has class...love it!
I pph fruit pizza and any shape you wanna make it is a-okay with me :-)
Fruit pizza is beyond fantastic! I would totally put the smackdown on anyone that tried to hijack mine!
I loooove fruit pizza! I usually do kiwi, strawberries, grapes, blueberries, and mandarin oranges (not a huge fan of bananas) And the white 'stuff' I use is cool whip, cream cheese, and powdered sugar- usually more cool whip than cream cheese because I could eat cool whip by the bowl-full. ha
Now I need to make some fruit pizza. DANG IT.
I must have missed the part where you add the bacon... How can it be pizza without bacon?
Yum! I also like vegetable pizza - crescent rolls instead of cookies, powdered ranch dressing mixed with the cream cheese, and veggies and shredded cheese instead of fruit. Also, Yum! Also requires a spork to defend it...
The first time that I had fruit pizza was about 7 years ago at my first baby shower.
It's now something we have frequently. I LOVE
I actually prefer square pizza "cuts" so yours works for me and I love your design. So creative, are you ;-)
Your little helper, couldn't be any more darling.
After seeing your pretty fruit pattern, I would say rectangle fruit pizza is the way to go.
This brings back the Pampered Chef party memories.
1. You have WAY too much time on your hands to arrange fruit so purty-like.
2. You use crescent roll dough.
Looks great! It looks like it would also work well as individual pizzas (aka, actual cookies with the toppings)
My word this looks yummy!! Definitely being bookmarked
I just want to dump chocolate on that:P
I ended up using blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, and pineapple. Everyone loved it of course.
I used part of a second roll of dough so now I have open cookie dough in the fridge taunting me; this will not end well.
OMG! Must. make. this. weekend!
