Happy Birthday, Smoosh

In one hour and twelve minutes, I will officially be able to say that I survived parenting a three-year old. Given that said three-year old is sound asleep, likely dreaming of cupcakes and dinosaurs and unicorns and rainbows, I think I'm going to make it. Anyone who has parented through three can tell you it's an accomplishment.

Three is waaaaaay worse than two. And yet! Here we are!

And, hindsight being 20/20, three wasn't that bad with Mila. She's a special sort of challenge, sure, but the person she is going to be is AMAZING. Everything that makes her a frequent flier aboard Time Out Airlines is a thing that is going to serve her well as an adult. She's persistent. She's stubborn. She's determined. She has no time for anyone's nonsense. She's kind. She's funny. She always has time to stop and smell the roses.

The little girl who lives life to its fullest is always going to be that person. There's no hesitation when she wants something. She just goes and gets it. Looking back, I knew exactly who Alexis was going to be when she was three-verging-on-four, so I'm confident in who Mila will be as well. Those underlying personality traits are forever; it's how they use them that will evolve over time.

I can't wait to see how Mila evolves. She's going to be a force, and it is going to be SO fun to watch. At the same time, I'm glad Mila chooses to take her time growing up. Slow and steady, little girl. Slow and steady. I hope she always insists on being referred to as "the baby," and I hope she always argues when we tell her she's getting so big. "I'm still widdle!" is one of my favorite of all of her denials.

There is no denying that four is going to be a heck of a ride, Mila. Let's go jump on.
