I Love You Through and Through
I give the man of the house grief because of his drawer filled with straw wrappers and useless cash receipts, but it's not like he's the only hoarder around these parts. Well, wait, he is, but sometimes I keep things too.
Like books.
I don't know what it is about books, but I can't part with them. If I've read it, I keep it. If I loved it, I keep it. If I hated it, I keep it. I keep all of the books. That includes Alexis' huge supply of books from when she was a tiny little lass.
That means Mila came into this world with a rather impressive library. I had to bribe Alexis to give up all of those baby books, but still. Mila's bookshelf is very full. It's shelves are stacked with the books Alexis loved. She explored their pages with her fingers, her eyes, and even her mouth as she grew from a slobbery little creature to the almost-graceful young girl she is today.
And now Alexis is reading some of those favorite books to Mila.
It is every bit as fantastic as you would think it is.
And possibly even a bit better.

Yep. Nailed it. I'm the same way with books AND photographs. I have stacks of both squirreled away all over the house. My poor husband.
Josh came into the world with a fantastic library too. I know get to see Ben teach Josh how to spell, write, and do math. It is the highlight of my night when Josh wants to work on a workbook so he can be like Ben and he asks Ben for help. Like you I wouldn't have chosen their to be such a large age gap but it is quite magical.
That is just wonderful <3
These girls are awesome and Mila is very lucky. I'm anti book owning. I've moved boxes and boxes of books over 15 times to different 'homes'. One day I'd finally had enough of the clutter and got rid of almost all of them. Library and Kindle are all I need. And then we had kids. Children's books are irresistible.
I'm the same way with books. And I read that book to my three oldest niece and nephews. I can't wait till the youngest is ready to read it too!
I love the way Mila is holding Alexis's arm in the first photo. "Wait, read that part again!"
Oh, I love this. So hard. (And yeah, I can't part with books either. The only exception is when I gave our less-than-favorite board books to the nephews. I still kept our favorites. Because obviously.)
I should have moved into a library years ago instead of building more and more shelves. My hallways are lined with them, I tell ya. Just wait until you're reading those books to your grandchild. It happens. And it's awesome. But definitely wait because chin hairs, progressive lenses, and drooping parts are involved, :-)
Love those photos and that book. It's one of our very favorites.
