In Search of Balance and a Few Good Hair Days
When you’ve had one baby, you think you know all of the apparently top-secret things that happen after a new little person comes into your life. I say “top-secret” because everybody talks about the lack of sleep and around-the-clock feedings, but they fail to mention a few things. For example, I found out about the sexy mesh underwear after Alexis was born. I had no idea up until then.
So when Mila was born, I thought I knew what came next.
Go ahead. Laugh at me. I KNOW.
It took me a while to figure out that this time was different. I should have seen it, but I was busy figuring out how to survive in this fantastic new world of two kids, so I didn't. Months went by and I didn't catch on that pregnancy gives you great hair. After, though? OH.
I didn’t notice it with Alexis. While I did know people who had talked about their hair not seeming as great after pregnancy, it just didn’t occur to me that I could experience the same thing. But it wasn’t just a “post-pregnancy” thing, I was compounding the issue because of my lack of… well… I wasn’t exactly being a healthy human being at the time.
After Mila was born, I had 70 pounds to lose. I had lots of chaos with trying to figure out how to balance two kids who were in dramatically different places in life. And, on top of it all, I had lots of stuff happening at work. It’s possible that I was basically living off of caffeine.
Whoops.
I’m still working to establish a more balanced lifestyle. I’m doing better with eating balanced and juggling time. Another thing I have done to sort of build the foundation for getting it together is to start taking vitafusion™ Hair, Skin & Nails Supplement.
It’s easier to have shiny, happy, healthy hair if you’re getting the vitamins and minerals necessary to support healthy hair.* I’ve tried this route before but this time I might actually be able to keep it up because vitafusion™ products taste good and don’t require water. Convenience is my best friend. And so are these two crazy little people.

I depend on combo products to save time.
What makes my life more convenient is having all of my appointments and information stored on my phone.
Getting everything ready as much as possible the night before. (not a morning person)
Thanks for the contest.

Google Voice. I know it's cheesy, but I get texting and voicemail transcription. It's like having my own assistant, and I go on with my life while all the spammers call my GV number!
We have a sock problem at my house. They disappear and it used to drive me crazy. I now buy really inexpensive socks at Gabriel Brothers and every few months toss what I cannot match up and buy more. All white and plain with no thrills. Totally wasteful, but it has saved my sanity more than once.
I try to do a little cleaning each day so that it's not a huge task on the weekends.
Potty training #3 made my life SO much more convenient! No packing diapers or wipes anymore, no more digging in all the cracks and crevices to make sure he's completely clean, and no more smelly garbage!
Other moms! I seriously don't know what I'd do without the friends who carpool with me and seem more capable of keeping up with deadlines, times, and what's going on. Sad but true.
Finally finding a way to air-dry my hair into a style that I like! It saves me like 20 mins in the AM!

My Kuerig! I suck at making coffee so this machine is a lifesaver for me!
I got great pregnancy hair with my 3rd too! And now it is curly! I save time now because I no longer have to dry my hair and straighten. I can wear it curly with a little product and go! Plus, i have "trained" it and I only need to wash about once a week now!
With three kids (7, 2, & 1) and a husband only home 3 days every 2 weeks, I am ALL about convenience! I think my favorite product that helps with that is Clorox Wipes (not any other brands, either) and hand sanitizer. I'm always running around and my oldest has several sport practices every year. With a baby and a toddler everything gets touched and then the hands and/or that object go into the mouth. So, those two products get used pretty much constantly, in and out of the house..
Extra Kindle time for the boys on Saturday mornings so I can get a little extra sleep.
My mom gave us a slow cooker recently -- it has made mealtimes so much easier!
I keep a very detailed calendar with contact numbers and carry it around with me. I also put the day's schedule on a white board in the kitchen so everybody knows when and where they're supposed to be.
When they were littler? A well stocked diaper bag was my savior. Now? The fact that they can both get in and out of the car unassisted. I spent so many years buckling car seats and dreading every stop because of how long it took to get in and out. (The youngest only got on board with this in the past year so it is still a new-ish victory.)
Flexible schedules and meal planning
Drivethrough Starbucks. :-)
I didn't realize they made a hair/nail supplement in chewable form! I take fish oil supplements that way now, and would not get that nutrition otherwise. I'm definitely going to have to check these out!!
A dish washer because I hate washing dishes. It is just so much easier to put it in a machine and have it do it for me.
Working in a college campus and having access to the cafeteria!
All the lists. This helps me keep on top of things and also declutter my head.
My crazy powerful Harry Josh hair dryer and the Starbucks app.
