It's a Very Different Closet

This will come as a surprise to absolutely no one, but Alexis' baby clothes keep appearing. It's like some weird magic trick involving a tiny car and a bunch of clowns, except it's tub after tub of baby clothes that just keep emerging from the storage room.

I have questions about the whole thing.

Like, HOW did she have so much clothing? We lived in a tiny 2-bedroom townhouse when she was a baby. Her closet was literally 18 inches wide, with just one bar for hangers and a couple of drawers for onesies and socks and such. I had to stay on top of the closet cleaning stuff like WOAH back then. These days, Mila still has newborn clothes in her closet even though she never once was able to wear them. I plan to leave them there until they grow legs and walk away on their own.

My other questions mostly have to do with the weirdness that is the change in fashions for tiny humans. Alexis' entire wardrobe up through at least 18 months was ... pink. Very pink. SO. VERY. PINK. I happen to find pink clothes to be puke-worthy, so I know the only reason there was pink stuff in her closet was because I didn't have a choice.

Pink.

Pink.

Pink.

So much pink.

Mila's closet, on the other hand, has exactly two pink things in it. TWO. But, I'm no longer actively avoiding the pink plague. I got tired of fighting The Man when it came to the pinkification of little girls years ago and just don't care anymore.

Yet, there is so little pink.

Because there are a world of choices now. It's amazing and fantastic and spectacular.

There is one thing that hasn't changed about baby girl clothes in the past 8 years. For some reason, there is still an alarming amount of clothing that resembles a costume. Dress your kid as a lamp shade! A ladybug! A clown! It's all possible!

Blech.

I can't handle the costume-like clothes.

Unless we're talking about a kitty hoodie. THAT IS DIFFERENT.

Mila has a first-child wardrobe, gently worn. Love her in the hoodie!
