Nutella No Bake Cookies

I've mentioned that I was a deprived child, right? I never had a single Barbie doll. I wasn't allowed to play with Play-Doh. The nearest Taco Bell was an 8-hour drive (upside: Taco John's FTW!). And in what is possibly the cruelest joke of all time, I didn't know what Nutella was until . . . um . . . aw, hell. I didn't find out about it until well after college.

Thank you for your sympathy. It is appreciated.

Since the magical discovery of Nutella, I've been trying to make up for lost time. Let's just say if you find a sticky spoon stuck inside the couch cushions, it wasn't me. Nope.

And then a friend introduced me to a brand new Nutella to mouth delivery method. It's spectacular.

Nutella No Bake Cookies.

*drool*

I win.

The topic of Nutella No Bake Cookies came up on twitter the other day and when it did, I realized I didn't have the recipe. That situation has since been remedied. Since I'm feeling nice, I thought I would share it.

Amy's Nutella No Bake Cookies

1 3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup Nutella
3 cups quick cooking oats
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
.
Combine sugar, milk, butter and cocoa powder in medium saucepan.  Bring to a boil and cook for 1 1/2 minutes.  Remove from heat and add Nutella, oats and vanilla.  Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper. Let cool until hardened.
.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies. That's enough to last about 14 seconds at my house.

If you can find it, you definitely need to try the Nutella made in Germany; for as good the regular stuff is, the German variety is sublime. A wee bit more expensive, but worth it. (One of my bosses is German. He turns his nose up at the stuff they sell here in the States, which is from Canada.)

Thanks for sharing this recipe! It's going on my ever-growing list of things to make. At this rate, I'm going to need more weeks in the year. I'm thinking I need to come up with something with both peanut butter and Nutella... yum.

That picture is adorable. And proof that she *occasionally* will carry her own toys, right?

Hmmm... she is leading a younger man around. Please tell me she didn't wrestle him to the floor so she could kiss him?

I am a Nutella virgin too. I've heard of the stuff, but have never tried it. I never really felt the need to try it, but no bakes, are you kidding me?! If these are anything like regular no bakes there is hardly a point in letting them cool... mmmm

i've had regular chocolate no bake cookies that i would have hurt you for, but i'm thinking these sound even better. since we know i don't bake or cook, i bet my family will fall over if i show up with something this tasty. thanks for the recipe!

p.s. was that image captured at the science center?

I've never had Nutella, but recently I have been seeing commercials. I guess that shows I'm not completely sheltered. My mom only let us play with Play Doh outside. I think this is because she is the smartest woman alive. We used that crap yesterday and I spent a half hour cleaning up. That could have been fun out in the snow I think!

You are kind of evil for posting this recipe. Also, I love you.

Is Nutella a regional thing? I had never heard of it until I saw a commercial for it a couple of months ago. I just purchased our first jar of Nutella a few weeks ago. AWESOMENESS!!! And it is GOOD for you??? Crazy. My kids are in love.

Thanks for the recipe! It sounds delish! :)

January 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMagda

@Magda--You just HAD to bring those up! I've been trying to block the majesty that is Potato Olés with cheese. ::sigh::

(Yeah, they don't make sense, but they're still good.)

I hear about nutella all the time and am sure I'd love it, but have never tried it. I also have not had no bake cookies in forever. Now I can do both!

OMG. I saw you'd posted this but didn't have time to get here until today!! ZOMG. Nutella is ON my list for this week (I have some, but not enough for this recipe thanks to my *ahem* teenager...i.e., the bottomless pit that found my nutella stash and ATE it ALL in 2 days. Punk.

*clears throat* Where was I?

Oh yes. This weekend. These will be made...and GONE. *ahem.* *scribbles recipe down furiously*

Two things: 1) I've never had nutella. Sadface.

2) Rememmmmmber all of those cookies I've sent you? .... :)

I discovered Nutella for the first time, late last year (I'm 35) through the unlikeliest of sources. It's part of a recipe ON A DIET PLAN. Two slices of "fat free" pound cake (I use quotes because, good luck finding fat free pound cake - also, WHATS THE POINT?) grilled (I just toast them on a skillet) with some (they say 9 grams, whatever that means) of Nutella spread on them and topped with sliced fresh strawberries. So good!

Little did I know, I'd had Nutella many times as it's essentially the delicious center of those fererro rochet thingies!

I don't like Nutella but when we lived in Athens there was a Taco Johns we could walk to. Yum!
