One of These Things Is Not Like the Others

There are remarkably few photographs of our entire little family. It's not because it's difficult to get us all in the same place at the same time. It's not because we don't have an camera which is quite capable of snapping a photo without one of us behind the viewfinder. It's not because there aren't plenty of opportunities. All of that? Totally not a problem.

The whole thing has often annoyed me almost as much as Dora's screeching voice. I try to schedule something with a professional. I try to get someone who happens to be with us to take a photo. I try to glue some people down and force compliance. None of that works. It turns out what I really needed to do was to have Alexis come home with a school assignment that required a family photo.

Someone is incapable of saying, "No," to Alexis.

Bet you can't guess who the Grumpy Grumperpants is that won't normally let me take family photos.

Oh, and a less zoomed in photo tells a whole other story:

Our dogs would be really good at photo bombing, if only they were a little bigger.

Try doing that with a family of six. Ugh would be an understatement. The fist attempt worked well enough but not too many smiling faces made the picture. The second time started with a total meltdown because my then 14 year old stepson did not want to wear a dress shirt. But the pictures turned out awesome.

Random thoughts:

1) Does Mr. Husband ever smile? He's handsome, he should!

2) Alexis looks a lot like her Dad to me.

3) I love the flower in Alexis' hair in the second picture.

4) You have a beautiful family!

Dude. He totally needs to smile! He's a handsome guy!

Now I see exactly why Alexis is so beautiful--look at her Mama and Daddy!!! :)

LOL. I'm the one that's usually not in pictures. I hate pictures of myself - trying to work on it, but not succeeding. But, now you know that next time you just need to have Alexis do the begging *lol* Maybe one of these times he'll be smiling too!!

WTF is with handsome dudes NOT SMILING for photos? He and FireDad should be in the frowny face competition.

I still love it though. (Sweater is from... tell me STAT.)

But he is smiling in the first pic no? ;-)

Oh, and K has that same sundress- we have good taste!

Maybe next time you can have Alexis tell Daddy to smile. Come on dad, give us a big grin. Love the outdoor picture. Our family photos are usually taken inside on our living room couch, just because they usually happen after we are trying to get the kids to have their picture taken with the grandparents or great grandparents. Need to do an outside one.

I understand. I have a handsome guy with the same attitude. The only place I can get him to smile for photos is WDW and really, who doesn't smile when they're there? My problem is that I don't have the talent that you do. Period.

Also? I make it a point when we're on vacation (or really anywhere that I see someone taking a picture of their kids) to offer to let them be in the photo. I am more than a little intimidated by the Big Girl cameras, though, so YOU would be out of luck. I like my point-and-shoot, thankyouverymuch. Someday, though, I'll learn to use one. Of course, I have to BUY one first...

Let me guess... he thinks he IS smiling? I like how even though her daddy is holding her, she is leaning towards you - not to show any favoritism!

LOL! My hubby does this goofy smile with no teeth. Or, if I try to get a picture of him he always makes a stupid face. I have precious few pictures of him that are actually worth framing.

Hee - He looks thrilled!
I am having our family visit the photographer next weekend. I will likely be dragging all three of them there - kicking and screaming! Fun.

I've got a Grumpy Grumperpants, too. And ironically he's all "we should have family pictures taken, it's been years. I'm scheduling since you never do."

I'll wait until after the pictures to do him physical harm.

My goodness. All this time I thought you were exagerating just a leeeetle bit, but nope. Not at all. I want to know just how he can hold that grumpy face when he is holding his princess!!

It's nice to see that my husband isn't the only Grumpy Grumperpants out there!!
