She Says It Didn't Hurt, But She Will Bawl If You Point Out the Hangnail on Her Thumb
Ever since our dance studio installed video cameras in the dance rooms, I've been very happy to sit around during dance class and watch my kid shake her groove thing on the closed-circuit TV monitors. Dance camp has been no exception. Alexis may end up shaking her groove thing for nearly two hours, but I can watch her that long. Easily.
Except that tonight I had a little something I needed to go do. I needed to capture this (and several other amazing photographs that I'll share over here when they're ready).
I know, right? Evening photography sessions are magic, you guys. And so is that family.
Anyway, for the first time in approximately forever, I left during dance, knowing full well that I wouldn't be walking back through that door until it was time to pick up the kid with the crazy curls. Everything would be fine! They have my phone number! I was only going to be two miles away!
You guys.
How does that kid manage to give herself a shiner at least once per year? I DON'T UNDERSTAND.
Her explanation was that she ran into another dancer. Apparently there is a little girl with horns running around Pittsburgh? I DON'T UNDERSTAND.
The kid has mad self-injury skillz.

Ooo that looks like it should hurt! Your daisy pictures are done for this year, right?
@Lisa--No! They aren't done! I was going to do them this week, which is of course the exact reason the kid managed to smash her face up like that. URGH! (She had a black eye in last year's daisy pic, but you can't quite see it. Hopefully I can repeat that magic this year.)
Ow! Had to hurt! Poor thing.
can i start calling her grace yet?
