Where Once There Were Three, Now There Are Two

If you've seen my head anywhere, could you please return it? It's somewhere out in our front yard, probably in the possession of one tiny little bird.

My goal was simply to turn on the hose so I could water a bit of the garden, but my efforts were interrupted by that tiny little bird. As I stood near the corner of our house turning the water on, she squawked and squawked and squawked, very obviously ripping my head off.

But why?

Of course I had to figure out why she had decided I was the devil.

Aha! She was guarding a secret in a little evergreen tree.

I've forgiven the momma bird for ripping my head off, in great part because the day after she ratted herself out, I found this:

It was nice of her to make sure she got my attention in time for me to put together a mommy blog for her, wasn't it?

Here we grow! (Again.)

I wish my nest stayed that nice and neat. Sigh. Oh well - just wait until her brood grows up and starts playing and collecting every teeny tiny toy out there.
