She's Got Moves. Unfortunately.

When Jen agreed to meet on Sunday to let our kids play together for a little while, I don't think she was expecting that she would need a protection order for her little boy, Dylan. She does. STAT.

Miss Alexis started out slow. A sideways glance here and there, a few location checks, but she kept coming back to me. Then we decided to relocate from the play area in the mall to the food court. This happened:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. Cute. Also, totally a "starter" move. Once we sat down to eat, Alexis moved in for the kill.

And again.

And again. And again. And again. And AGAIN. Seriously, I have fifty photos of my kid putting Dylan in a choke hold and then making out with the side of his face. And him enjoying it.

The good news is that I *think* Alexis was more "playing mommy" than she was hitting on the poor little guy. She was all about fussing at him that he couldn't run off while his mom was ordering food, and downright herded him back to us adults any time he tried to stray. At one point she even lectured him about "safe."

Don't try to argue with that little story I've built in my head. I either need to go with that, or look into investing in some crazy security system so I can lock Alexis is the basement for the next 20 years.

OK, 30 years.

LOL thats funny... I have all this to look forward too. Julia is already way too smart. This morning she came down from her room, took her chair over to where i keep the flash cards and grabbed a handful before going to find my husband.

Hey, maybe she's a vampire or the next Hannibal Lecture!

Oh wait, that probably doesn't help ... :)

She's just being friendly and caring. Beware the same moves when she's a teen.

That takes cute, Alexis-style to a whole new level. Think of it this way; better Dylan than Sidney Crosby! Hehehe.

I am just amazed at how quickly time passes; what happened to that little babe that first charmed me with "Dank You." Sigh. DEFINITELY, 30 years.

Do I hear wedding bells? Sorry. This probably doesn't help.

Too cute! I think it's harmless, but if you do find something to lock her in the basement, can you pass it along for my little girl?!?!?

She'll make a very cute teen mom. ANd just think..you'll be the hottest and youngest grandma around!!

Just kidding. (I hope!)

She is truly adorable. :)

Did she pull the yawn, arm over the shoulder move? That's a classic.

February 18, 2009 | Unregistered Commenternikki

This will make you feel so much better... Did you know that when they fell on the floor, she made contact with lips?

Jim said, "My son is a stud. I didn't get my first kiss until I was 21!"

Haha, adorable story. Your safe now. But the lock and key comes out when she turns 12. TRUST me. Right now my 8 year old daughter Julia thinks boys are disgusting. YAY! I informed her she would not be allowed to have a boyfriend till she was in high school, if ever. she said gross! Im gonna hope she keeps that theory up.My 14 year old boy however has girls stalking him. This is not good either. We are doomed.

I hear there's a decent convent not far from the 'burgh...

Love it! My 2yo has a "girlfriend" - the younger sister of a girl in my 4yo's preschool class - who's always doing the same. The kisses and hand holding are adorable! (And we all know men need that extra direction!)

You'd better believe I'm not going to argue with the story you've told yourself, as it's the same story I've convinced myself is true on the MANY occasions we've had the same experience with my girl!

February 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterChristina

heehee oh man... you guys are in TROUBLE. Keep telling yourself she was just playing 'Mommy' ;)

This is so cute... except for the fact that I have a daughter. Guess I better start pre-emptively shopping security systems...

February 18, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterbessie.viola

I say you've taught her well. She knows what she wants and she went out and got it. She's not sitting back and waiting for anybody to hand her anything. Doesn't this go back to yesterday's post? I don't see that there's an issue here. Adorable.

February 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMirth

Oh my WORD! That is the cutest!

February 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKat

Definately a cute moment but speaking as a dad you should proabably get that security system just in case. It is never to early to fortify your home.

February 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterOtter Thomas

You are in such trouble! I would look in to that security system. Atleast she keeps to her age, Little Miss has a thing for older guys....She has her eye on her brother's friend and he is 21. Good Luck

@Mirth--Ha!

I was going to say -- Dylan looks pretty dang happy with all that forced kissing! :-)

February 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJonny's Mommy

That's pretty dang cute!

February 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterDanielle

Man, she has a major crush there doesn't she? These pictures are great. And yes, he does look like he's enjoying it! HA!

Little girls learn to flirt so young! I remember my youngest daughter turning around in her high chair in a restaurant to flirt with a guy behind us at the next table when she was 6 months old! Yeah, she's a cutie, but watch out.

February 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

I'm all about playing along. They grow up too fast anyway.

February 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

So cute, but you may need to lock her up!

February 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSue

you can definately see alexis has a little mommie in her. she wants to nurture and protect as well as love. now when she gets to be a teenage nana may want her to nurture a puppy or a wounded bird but maybe not a teenage boy, lol
i don't think i have ever heard any of your childhood stories before. but let me tell you there is nothing wrong with being poor or workng to get what you want in life. you worked, you saved and you achieved what you wanted. it took a lot of hard work on your part to get there. but look at you now. you learn to appreciate everything you have when you work for it. alexis will be a better person because she was taught the real values are ones you work for.

To stinkiu cute!

As long as you keep repeating the mantra that he is Friend who is a boy, and not a "boyfriend," you're cool for at least a year.

At some point, though, she's going to decide she's going to marry him...and then you've got some 'splainin' to do, Lucy.

Oh, and when she gets to Kindergarten, she'll have a list (that will change every day) of the order in which she will marry them...all the while keeping her eye on the prize: this first guy.

It's a hoot to hear, but I guarantee that Daddy will just about explode.

Uh-Oh! The basement might definitely be in order!!

February 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterVerWaynia

Precious! I think I was five when I kissed a boy for the first time. I remember having to chase him around the recess yard to catch him. Clearly, Alexis had a willing partner :o)

February 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterThe Purple Pinkie

That is SO cute! Its like something out of Normal Rockwell! But I sure hope they don't elope or anything!

February 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterNicki

Awww so precious! My younger one has a similar relationship with a good friend of mine's little boy. They talked about getting married when they were only 4! They were always and hugging and kissing too. Boy am I ever in trouble. . .
