Day Three Hundred One
~~ Oh, look. I'm continuing to pretend the world isn't still on fire. Weeee! ~~
It has been about 12 hours since I mentioned that Mila stole my Mr. Sketch markers on Instagram, which means it has been 12 hours since a low-key war broke out in my house. In case you are not an Instagram-type person, there's a bit of a back story.
So. I use Mr. Sketch markers for work. I always have. There are two reasons for this.
1. They are DELIGHTFUL. Don't even think about denying it. Sniffing markers that are meant to be sniffed is a true joy in life.
2. Everybody gets all snooty at work and tries to pretend they're too professional for Mr. Sketch. Thus, they don't walk away with my markers. This is really and truly a benefit as I personally find it very frustrating to have office supplies walk away when I'm not paying attention. I realize I can go get more, but when I want a red marker, I WANT A RED MARKER.
Can it smell like cherries while I use it? YES, IT CAN!
Thus, I have had the same box of Mr. Sketch markers for easily 10 years. They have changed jobs with me more than once. Those markers have survived multiple trips to a handful of states. They've sat through conversations about finance and construction and manufacturing and basically they are the best markers ever. So faithful. So reliable.
Obviously, all of my work stuff is no longer at work. I packed up one office months ago and have no plans of moving into another one ... ever. The markers live in my home office now, a place safe from thieves.
OR SO I THOUGHT.
This morning, Mila managed to get her grubby little hands on my box of Mr. Sketch markers. For the first time ever, they were stolen away and left the safety and comfort of my possession.
Mila was very proud of herself. She went through each and every marker, sniffed it, and reported on its scent. For the record, she declared blue to be the best. I can't help that the child is wrong, but I did steal back the markers.
It lasted an hour. Mila stole them back.
And that pretty much sums up our day. Mila kept waiting for me to be on a call so she could stroll into my office and grab the markers, knowing full well I couldn't yell at her or tackle her like I probably should have. Then, when my call ended, I ran downstairs and stole them back. We went round and round all day long.
No worries. The markers are safe now. The child should have known that she shouldn't go to sleep.
(Black and dark pink are the best, by the way. Go ahead and fight me about it.)
Day Three Hundred
"Day Three Hundred."
Hahahahahahalololololsob.
When I started the whole thing with blog titles being the number of days since the girls set foot in a school or I set foot in an office and all of that, I never for a second thought it would stretch to a year. Dear reader, it is definitely going to stretch to a year. I was supposed to reassess the whole school thing for a potential return to "normal" after Christmas but hahahahahahalolololsob. It's cute that I had hope that things would be closer to normal after half the school year.
I would like to get off this ride now, please.
ANYWAY. The reason I'm all sorts of doom and gloom is that I made the mistake of trying to watch some of this seasons Grey's Anatomy. It turns out that was a very bad idea. It's much easier to keep the whole "tons of people are dying" thing in a box and tucked high on a shelf if you don't let yourself stop and think about what is happening all around us. But, like, it's real. All of this is real.
ANYWAY AGAIN. I ended up in Grey's land because I finished my most recent television series binge and basically what I'm saying is give me ideas of things to watch. I have already worked my way through everything Marvel, everything DC (the first season of Arrow? A MASTERPIECE.), Outlander, every awful Netflix Christmas movie there was, Umbrella Academy, Dash & Lily, Stranger Things, Atypical, Bridgerton, Travelers, Queen's Gambit, The Witcher, and goodness knows what else. (STOP JUDGING ME. IT'S BEEN A LONG PANDEMIC.) I need ideas. Bonus points for being just unrealistic enough to offer a total distraction from reality. I also prefer things that have already ended because clean, happy endings are pretty darn excellent. Oh, and anything that involves deadly contagious anything is out.
So is there anything left worth watching? Or do I start Gilmore Girls again?
