Fashion Designer Extraordinaire

Mila and her partners in crime have concocted a genius plan that she is quite certain is going to make her very wealthy - they're opening a clothing store. I know this because I've heard the whole plan about 4000 times. Possibly more.

The tiny entrepreneurs have figured out EVERY detail. They know where they're going to build the shop. They have drawings of what it's going to look like. They even know which of them is going to handle which parts of the business.

Mila is the Chief Design Officer. It's her responsibility to design all of the clothes and accessories that they're going to sell. She's also going to sew them all. This is all very interesting considering Mila has never sewn a single stitch in her life. Also, genetics say she will hate sewing. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate sewing? Because I hate sewing. I do it, but with much fury with every second that passes as I'm doing it. Because it's terrible.

ANYWAY.

Mila has been working on sketches of clothing pretty much non-stop this week. She has a notebook filled with designs. All of them are dresses. Most of them are very bright colors. Each of them has a name and is accompanied by appropriate accessories.

I found my favorite.

That's the "Screeming Killer" dress. It comes with a chainsaw-shaped purse (i.e. "purs chansoe"). The dress is priced at a very reasonable $25.99.

So I guess maybe Mila is ABSOLUTELY my kid?

Sausage and Broccoli Cavatappi

I'm still not actually cooking. I don't have any sort of excuse, but I will say that every time I start to think about making real food, Alexis is all, "I'll make dinner."

OKAY!

I owe her a few more easy recipes because apparently it is not right of me to request waffles every time she volunteers to take care of dinner. She asked for ideas. Thus, Sausage and Broccoli Cavatappi.

This sausage and broccoli concoction was originally Mila's idea. She loves broccoli, which I know makes no sense, but here we are. She does. I'm not complaining, that's for sure. She also loves vegetarian sausage, so it makes sense to put the two together.

Sausage and Broccoli Cavatappi

1 package sausage (we're digging this brand of vegetarian sausages lately), sliced
1 package frozen broccoli florets
1/4 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 pound cavatappi or other pasta
1/2 cup shredded parmesan

1. Prepare the pasta according to the instructions on the box.

2. In a separate skillet, heat the oil and red pepper flakes and add the sausage. Cook until lightly browned then add the broccoli. Stir occasionally. It's done when you're happy with firmness of the broccoli.

3. Drain the pasta and put it back into the pot. Add the broccoli/sausage and stir.

4. Top with shredded parmesan. Serve with extra red pepper flakes for the spicy lovers in your house.
