Amish Beards, Olay Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal, and a Giveaway!  (CLOSED)

It took 20 years and way more money than I'm willing to acknowledge, but I think I have finally done it. I think I have finally found the right combination of treatments to control my acne.

*cue angels singing*

You guys, I can't even tell you how happy this makes me. I've been battling acne since my teen years. Never severe acne, just constant, unrelenting, scar-leaving acne. It has always been enough to make me just short of insane. But it's mostly gone now! Hooray!

Of course, there's always a catch. ALWAYS.

Just as the acne mostly disappeared, and the scars started to fade, I noticed something. It's been there all along, but it wasn't all that prominent since there were other more obvious issues with my face.

I have an Amish beard, y'all.

Most my face is covered with fine blond hair. It's not terribly noticeable to most people, but I notice it. I NOTICE IT.

We won't discuss all the times I've used scissors to trim MY FREAKIN' AMISH BEARD. We won't talk about how I may have "accidentally" placed some pore strips in odd places to get rid of some of MY FREAKIN' AMISH BEARD.

All I'm going to admit is that when BlogHer contacted me and asked if I would be interested in trying New Olay Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo, I couldn't possibly type, "Yes, please" fast enough.

The New Olay Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo showed up in my mailbox and was promptly escorted to my bathroom. Immediately. Do not pass go, do not pause to pet the cat, just go get rid of the Amish beard, please!

I followed the directions (of course) and started by applying the Skin Guarding Balm. Then I put on the cream. I waited eight minutes, wiped the product off with a cotton ball and . . .

No more Amish beard! Hooray!

I didn't notice any sort of skin irritation, so it was a gentle solution that took less than ten minutes total. That's way better than any of the alternatives.

BlogHer and New Olay Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo have given me the gift of an Amish beard-free face, and now they want to give a little something to you. Leave a comment below to be eligible to win a $50 gift card.

Just tell me one thing you do as part of your beauty routine to express your inner beauty.

I have recently taken up exfoliating every other day, both my body and my face. I can already tell a difference in how soft my dry winter skin is.

I like Cetaphil cleanser - very mild - and a store brand moisturizer. My husband says he digs the Amish beard, or peach fuzz.

January 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPam

I use moisturizer every day and have used the same facial cleanser for years. Nothing else seems to work. Still end up with a zit here and there, once a month. As for feeling good, I love to get manicures or do them myself. I feel girly when my nails look pretty!

Moisturize all the time. Toner. An amazing facial once a year.
Taking a long time to get ready, to enjoy the process.

That' s just me.

January 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAng

I have a freckle right in the middle of my nose, and it has 4 little hairs growing out of it. I also have a mole on my cheek. I make sure to trim those regularly so as to not scare the heck out of anyone. Like everyone else, I moisturize and take my make-up off....most nights.

January 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSamantha

I'm too lazy to wear make-up LOL. My inner beauty self feels pretty good as long as I get enough sleep. Well-rested, I can conquer almost anything!

I have an Amish beard plus a whiskery goatee! I received a Bellabe (google it) for Christmas...from my Mother-in-law!!! She's such a charmer with her thoughtful gifts. Anyway, it's as close to torture as you can get when it comes to hair removal! I think I'll try the Olay hair remover soon!

January 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSarah

Comment left. :)

January 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBeth

Pick me! I could always use some extra $$.
I don't use a lot of make up at all. And all I use is water on my face in the shower to wash. :)

Try to stay well hydrated

January 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJacob LaFountaine

I have increased my moisturizing and have changed to sulfate free shampoo, and only shampoo every other day. Which means, of course, I am now a very shiny person.

January 24, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterClaire

Since i started using moisturizer (with SPF) daily I've noticed that my skin looks and feels so much better!

January 24, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCalli

Sunblock! With my fair and freckly skin it's an absolute must!

January 24, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKristen

I, too, have the same problem but I call it my "goat fur" instead. It's very light and blonde and you can only really make it out when the light hits it a certain way but it is, nonetheless, still there.
For my "inner beauty" to truly shine, I need to load up on water and get at least 8 hours of sleep. Also, eating healthy foods and using loads of moisturizer to keep my skin from drying out from the dry winter air is key!

January 24, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKristen Gray

Lotion post shower for my dry hands from constantly washing my hands at the hospital. I never knew how dehydrating all the alcohol sanitizer and anti-bacterial soap were.

January 25, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterdahcheet

Mascara - I've tried them all and the only kind I used to prefer was a twenty plus dollar tube of Lancome stuff. Not anymore. Cover Girl's Lash Blast is the best and they always have coupons to make they're stuff cheaper. In fact, right now at Ulta, Cover Girl products are buy one, get one half off.

Something else I've fallen in love with is eye shadow. Look up youtube videos for all of the ways to apply it. The best kinds I've found are Ulta brand and Nyx. Both very affordable and almost always on salec

January 25, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAsh

Ditto moisturize!

January 25, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPam

hey girlie - can you tell me what you used for the acne? (or are still using) I have been battling acne for the past two years and it is just getting WORSE. Been seeing a Derm for the past two years and last month (after a round of steroids that totally cleared me up) she took me off all meds and creams and told me o use nothing. FULL force acne is back. I'm thinking I need a new derm or a new face! (tiarastantrums@gmail.com)
