Halloween Round-Up And Then Some
We emerged from ScareHouse laughing hysterically, just in time to run into Scott (one of the owners). I had abandoned Mr. Husband and Alexis for a few hours so I could get one last dose of Halloween Awesome, and it had most definitely lived up to expectations.
As I stood chatting with the small group of people I adore, we noticed them. Just outside of the ScareHouse exit, four girls sat on the curb. It was the same four girls we had seen in line and wondered about their age. They looked to be maybe 10, most definitely the youngest anywhere in sight. ScareHouse specifically warns that it might be too intense for anyone under the age of 13, so we all wondered if they really were that tough. They were with some adults, though, so whatever.
As they sat on the curb and we stood chatting, bits and pieces of their conversation with ScareHouse staff started to drift through the air. It took only minutes to learn that they were sobbing and crying and generally miserable after having taken one of the emergency escape routes out of the first of the three haunts. The parents they were with were still inside, having let the girls go outside by themselves while they finished their grand tour.
As the minutes passed, three of the four began to recover. The fourth girl, however, was STILL sobbing a good ten minutes after having walked out of ScareHouse. How much do you want to bet that she'll grow up to be THAT woman who refuses to do haunted houses? Traumatized for life, that one.

There's an article about Pittsburgh Mommyblogs over at Pop City which features a few of my most favoritest people. It mentions a little something about Christmas Crazy, which will be starting in force sometime this week. You've been warned.

I think it's illegal to post on Halloween without including some photos of a cute kid in costume and fun pumpkins. Consider me a law-abiding citizen.
(If you hadn't already figured out that I'm not quite right in the head, there you go. Exhibits 1-4 or so. You're welcome.)

Oh I really like the baby in the high chair. Very cool. Also, I love the witch costume, it's adorable. It could have something to do with the character that's wearing it too.
I love the decorations! Alexis, looks perfect in her witch costume! I was hoping to hear more about your fantastic Halloween neighborhood. So jealous! We had to drive to a neighborhood to take Jack trick-or-treating. A bunch of duds live on our street.
Totally awesome!! Especially the regurgitating pumpkin!!! Looks like fun was had by all!
LOVE her outfit, and LOL at the doll!
Love the pumpkin holders...did you get them around here?
@Eve--I got them at Target last year. They had them again this year, but they were much smaller.
The vomiting Dora is awesome, but I have to say that Jeffrey Dahmer's child is genius.
OMG, I love your decor. Can you decorate my house for me next year? Heh.
I LURVE Halloween. So good. Your pumpkins are awesome! And I LOVE that ghost in the window! And of course, Alexis is just too cute. :)
Glad you were able to enjoy your Halloween!
The doll with the "handful"... awesome. Twisted, but awesome.
Love the shot of Alexis going all "Witch Rage". She's really owning the character.
i remember when i was probably too young to be in haunted houses and went with my parents. of course i freaked, bursting into tears. instead of leaving my parents told me it was fake, told me they wouldn't let anything hurt me and that i could shut my eyes if i wanted to. dad carried me piggyback style and mom reassured me they would protect me. always. so yeah, i made it through that haunted house and many others. although i am terrified of haunted houses, i still go. pisses me off that the parents of those kids let them go outside alone.
LOVE that photo of the sun on alexis the witch with the cauldron. awesome.
did you use a dremel or just a sharp knife to get the skull so perfect in the pumpkin?
I LOVE the baby doll eating the hand *G*
You're perfectly right in the head...totally...;)
@hello haha narf--Husband did the skull with one of the kits. No dremel involved, just 20 minutes or so with a tiny little saw.
Great decorations and even better little witch.
Awwww.... you included Renesmee! (ducking)
The baby eating the hand is the best yard decoration I've ever seen.
I am THAT woman, and the baby with the hand is gonna give me nightmares so thanks for that. : )
Those jack o lanterns are fantastic.
Alexis -- she is awesome. awesome. awesome.
I too am THAT WOMAN. The visions of the last haunted house still haunt me. My Diva wants to go now though. Yikes, maybe it will be a daddy daughter thing for now.
I don't do haunted houses of any kind. Even the ones in someone's basement. I was traumatized in 2nd grade at the local haunted house in our town. It was probably pretty lame, but I've always been a chicken.
Great pictures, BTW!
You and I are SO on the same page;)
Loving the witch costume!
Tommy seems to be enjoying a tasty snack! (You are a creep. It's awesome.)
What did you use for the bases of the pumpkins? SO awesome!! and the babydoll. Adore it!
I have a really awesome picture of myself and an ex at halloween. I'm in an EMT costume and he's wearing the pumpkin we carved on his head. Hehehehhee. Awesome.
