Here's To A Less Drippy Spring
I once spent spring working at a company on the corner of Peachtree Lane and Peachtree Expressway. It was a few miles from Peachtree Road and Peachtree Lane. And HEY! did you know all of the roads in Atlanta are named "Peachtree" something or other?
It's true.
It was HUGELY confusing trying to figure out how to get around. I would ask people for directions and then wait to see how many times they would use "Peachtree" in a sentence. It would have been funny if it hadn't been so frustrating.
Not helping the situation was the fact that for the first time in my life, I was getting hammered by seasonal allergies. I had no idea I was allergic to anything, but between the itchy, watering eyes and miserable congestion, I realized I was either allergic to roads named "Peachtree" or the actual peach trees that lined every street, alley, and expressway. They were absolutely stunning while in full bloom, but they made me so miserable.
I was really glad to finish up that project and go back to Pittsburgh, where every road seems to have "Washington" in its name. I'm not allergic to Washingtons. In fact, feel free to send me a few.
That spring in Atlanta was the end of my seasonal allergy battles...right up until Alexis was born. Why didn't anyone warn me that could happen, by the way? WHY does having a baby lead to a change in your body that causes you to suddenly have wicked seasonal allergies? Every spring and fall since Alexis was born have been like those few months in Atlanta. Miserable congestion is on its way. URGH.
I usually spend spring in denial. Surely I was imagining things last year when I couldn't go outside without wanting to crawl up in a ball of misery!
I work through all of the fun spring preparation things like clearing the debris from the garden, moving a few plants, mulching, edging, pruning, and taking the containers out of the garage. About halfway through, the misery sets in. I completely block out all intelligent thought and just keep on suffering. It's not until the congestion starts to clear on its own that it occurs to me OH, HAI. SEASONAL ALLERGIES. CAN FIX THAT.
This year, however, is different. This year I'm getting proactive. Thanks to BlogHer and Similasan, I got some Similasan Nasal Allergy Relief to try out. It's a homeopathic nasal mist that stimulates the body's natural ability to relieve symptoms. Goodbye congestion and disgusting post-nasal drip! (Hi, I'm super sexy in spring what with my drippy nose, n'at.)
It's one of the only preservative free nasal decongestants for nasal allergies available, and it's chemical free, so I don't have to worry about rebound effects or reliance. Similasan Nasal Allergy Relief is available at Walgreens and all major online retailers.
I'M READY FOR SPRING! Bring on the flowers! Bring on the mulch! Bring on the pollen!

Spring cleaning! I'm NOT a pack rat but my husband is (sound familiar). Every spring we go through HIS stuff (cause I don't have stuff) and get rid of the things he's unable to explain why he needs to keep it. It's usually everything in the lot! :)
I'm getting ready for spring by purging a lot of stuff. I moved over the weekend and it gave me the opportunity to go through my closets and dressers and bags and just be done with the stuff I haven't worn in ages. I also have been pretty responsible in watering some plants and flowers I recently got as get-well gifts. I refuse to let these suckers die.
I'm putting out a compost bin for the first time - can't wait!
Also can't wait to try that Similisan - my allergies are killer, and I can only take so much Benadryl. A natural remedy would be awesome!
Well...ever since my husband and I got a real fixer upper house...we have been ripping down wall paper ceilings, wood paneling from the walls, and not to mention ripping up the worlds most ugly green carpet to reveal wood flooring that needs some TLC. I have been tending to the outside too...vines that over took the sidewalk and bushes that are wayyy too big...so needless to say we got our work cut out for us this spring to make it look pretty on the inside and out! :)
I am getting ready by visiting the nursery which is right across the street from my house!
I am trying to declutter my house and throw out junk!! Plus I am remodeling the bedroom. The fun never ends! Thanks for the sweepstakes.
A tweet for you.

Doing some spring cleaning.
i am tilling a garden to prepare for spring
I just got my winter stuff put away....for spring I'm lucky to get the closets sorted out.
Um, we're doing everything. We were planting Kale today!
I really need to get through the kids' dressers & weed out the too-small clothes. How on earth do these clothes shrink so fast?!?!?
Started off with a bang (stuff to Goodwill, organizing, scrubbing, etc.). That all got clobbered when the husband went in the hospital with a severe infection. In week 3 now. Cleaning will have to wait.
Cleaning out all the kids clothes that they have grown out of.
Preparing for spring? Ha, we don't prepare for anything. I did, however, get quotes from some landscaping places and may or may not be willing to spend SO MUCH MONEY to make it look nicer out back. ::shrug::

I do spring cleaning and clean my closets
I made my boyfriend open up all of the windows in the house today to get the fresh air and the warmth in the house. I cleaned off the outside patio furniture and we started picking at the garden. This evening, I stood in the yard and stared at our beautiful city. there's still so much to do, but it's a start and it's already making me more excited for the warmer weather.
i live in northern california, it's spring 12 months a year here
Excellent review. I prepare for spring by packing my bags and flying back to the northeast from a warmer climate. I'm not too bothered with allergies, however, I am very pleased to see an all natural product on the market at long last. Thanks for sharing with this great review!
i stock up on meds to prepare and we also to a lot of cleaning

I have been doing a little bit of spring cleaning, and I bought a new lawn mower.
nothing in particular
Zyrtec in the morning. Benadryl at night. And I keep nasonex spray in the car, purse, and in my pocket just in case I feel like I'm about to DIE. I can't find my Clear Eyes but please believe I need it. I lived in Atlanta for four years and had BRUTAL sinus infections for three of them. It was actually so bad that a DOCTOR advised me to stay inside for two weeks, shower night and day and change my sheets every night.
I hate spring!
I clean the house

I'm trying to eat healthier so I can feel better and look great in all the cute spring and summer clothes.
Since spring only lasts about five minutes in the South, there's not much to get ready for. But I can tell the extreme shifts in temperature really do a number on my sinuses! I have been using a saline inhaler to see if that will help. Too early to tell, but I like "natural" remedies instead of ...er... "unnatural" ones. So I'd definitely be willing to give Similasan a try!

My husband has bad allergies and this is "snot-season" (yup, that's sexy!). I prepare by washing out the filter in our bedroom window air conditioner since it's been in the attic all winter and vacuuming under the bed in our room. I also take down the blinds and valances and wash them. I think it really helps keep his allergies in check at night when our room is clean and as dust-free as I can get it. It's also time to change out our drawers to and put away sweaters and bring out the shorts (there's not enough drawer space for each season, so we have to rotate). Oh, and I stock a fresh box of tissues next to his side of the bed for hubby!
