Here's To A Less Drippy Spring
I once spent spring working at a company on the corner of Peachtree Lane and Peachtree Expressway. It was a few miles from Peachtree Road and Peachtree Lane. And HEY! did you know all of the roads in Atlanta are named "Peachtree" something or other?
It's true.
It was HUGELY confusing trying to figure out how to get around. I would ask people for directions and then wait to see how many times they would use "Peachtree" in a sentence. It would have been funny if it hadn't been so frustrating.
Not helping the situation was the fact that for the first time in my life, I was getting hammered by seasonal allergies. I had no idea I was allergic to anything, but between the itchy, watering eyes and miserable congestion, I realized I was either allergic to roads named "Peachtree" or the actual peach trees that lined every street, alley, and expressway. They were absolutely stunning while in full bloom, but they made me so miserable.
I was really glad to finish up that project and go back to Pittsburgh, where every road seems to have "Washington" in its name. I'm not allergic to Washingtons. In fact, feel free to send me a few.
That spring in Atlanta was the end of my seasonal allergy battles...right up until Alexis was born. Why didn't anyone warn me that could happen, by the way? WHY does having a baby lead to a change in your body that causes you to suddenly have wicked seasonal allergies? Every spring and fall since Alexis was born have been like those few months in Atlanta. Miserable congestion is on its way. URGH.
I usually spend spring in denial. Surely I was imagining things last year when I couldn't go outside without wanting to crawl up in a ball of misery!
I work through all of the fun spring preparation things like clearing the debris from the garden, moving a few plants, mulching, edging, pruning, and taking the containers out of the garage. About halfway through, the misery sets in. I completely block out all intelligent thought and just keep on suffering. It's not until the congestion starts to clear on its own that it occurs to me OH, HAI. SEASONAL ALLERGIES. CAN FIX THAT.
This year, however, is different. This year I'm getting proactive. Thanks to BlogHer and Similasan, I got some Similasan Nasal Allergy Relief to try out. It's a homeopathic nasal mist that stimulates the body's natural ability to relieve symptoms. Goodbye congestion and disgusting post-nasal drip! (Hi, I'm super sexy in spring what with my drippy nose, n'at.)
It's one of the only preservative free nasal decongestants for nasal allergies available, and it's chemical free, so I don't have to worry about rebound effects or reliance. Similasan Nasal Allergy Relief is available at Walgreens and all major online retailers.
I'M READY FOR SPRING! Bring on the flowers! Bring on the mulch! Bring on the pollen!

I honestly don't remember if I already posted...so I'm posting again.
For spring, we first walk around looking at the gardens and saying, "Hey, what is that?" because no matter what I do, I can't remember half of what's in there. We apparently planted a lot of hellifIno flowers. Then we weed and preen and whatever until it all starts blooming for reals and I can figure out where the holes are that need a new plant in them.
Oh, and we got a new fountain for this year...my first! Hopefully, the OPK won't notice it until August.
I've been sorting through my 2yr old's closet to find a pair of shorts that actually fit him! Also, spring is a BAZILLION times better once you're a SAHM --- FINALLY FREEDOM! FRESH AIR! PARKS!
Getting the bikes out and getting stuff ready for using our new to us pop up camper for the summer!!! I prepare for those allergies by stocking up on local honey :-) I guess at some point I should do some spring cleaning!
I home school my kids, so we are rushing to finish for the year! Fun in the sun; here we come!
will change my wardrobe and donate things to charity
I get ready for spring by stocking up on tissue and cleaning my house of dust.

I prepare for spring by being sure that I have plenty of "tears" eye drops. I don't usually get nasal allergy symptoms, but my eyes make me NUTS! On a fun note, I also start shopping for veggie seeds and flower seeds for the spring/summer growing season!

I am taking advair, Flonase and Zyrtec daily. I actually have been alternating Zyrtec, Claritin and allegra each week to help avoid residence. I live in Oklahoma, which is like the 6th state for allergies? Ugh. It seriously sucks and I often have asthma problems as a result of allergy flare ups. Lots of sinus infections too. Boo allergies! But yah I've never heard of this stuff and I am all about homeopathic remedies!
we cleaned the house from top to bottom, and had a party, to celebrate the spring and the warm weather. then i promptly got sick.
Ok Ok I'm entering. You're so ....um, forceful?...on twitter that I am entering. But I may have already entered and I think that's bad. But I couldn't NOT come here and enter. Things that go on longer than a day or two - I'm forgetting if I entered so I don't at all because I don't want to break a rule or anything.

I'm doing a lot of gardening this Spring. To be outdoors that much, I really have to be vigilant with allergy control.

Actually I never had allergies until I spent a spring in Rome, Italy. Every building had a pot of flowers blooming and as soon as they started to fade they would be replaced with a fresh pot. I thought I would died from sneezing, swollen eyes and drippy nose. I took allergy pills to stop the sneezing and drank espresso like it was going out of style to try to stay awake from the allergy meds. Luckily the USA has treated me better. I still have allergies but not just in spring and not so severe. I just keep my tissues handy!
I haven't done anything to prepare but I do have allergy problems as usual
To get ready for spring,I start cleaning out the garage-too much stuff gets stored in there.Plus we prepare the ground for our garden thanks

I am still cleaning up from the tornadoes that hit here a year ago 4/27. Lots of yard work to do. I had a flower bed, now I will need to start it all over again. But my family and I are blessed to be alive. =0)

I've been riding my bike to get ready for spring.
I am also doing a lot of Spring cleaning/decluttering. Stowing away all of our cold weather clothing that takes up so much room. Cleaning all the windows and mini-blinds so the sun shines in.

Lately I've been trimming trees and moving some plants. Then I come inside and try to recuperate from the dust and pollen.
Sadly, I'm not a good house cleaner... to prepare for spring I change the winter bed sheets off and put on spring ones
We have bought bulbs and seeds and are beginning our vegetable and flower garden. I love Spring as there is something so exciting about it and I love seeing the seeds planted knowing that in a few months I am going to have fresh vegetables and beautiful flowers!
