I Know I Said The Snow Needs to Go Away Once March Arrives, But . . .

In what could only be described as a happy accident, I somehow managed to configure the landscaping in our front yard in such a way that we have consistently had more snow to play with than most of the other houses in our neighborhood. While we might have had two feet of snow in our back yard, at the bottom of our front sidewalk there was easily something closer to six feet of the fluffy white stuff. A quick glance through the neighborhood tonight showed that we are among the last to see our trees or shrubs.

THANK GOODNESS.

There are two reasons that I'm suddenly all about the snow sticking around just a little while longer. For one, apparently our dogs grew extra buttholes when I wasn't looking because OHMAHGAH there are an amazing number of landmines all up in the yard. I'm aware of the fact that Meg (the Bulldog) refuses to let her precious little paws touch anything cold or wet, so she has barely been out the door when she does her business. In fact, I don't think she's walked more than ten feet away from the house in the past two months. I just never really thought through the consequences of her princess antics. I'm aware now. And might need to puke if I become any more aware. BLECH.

The other reason I wouldn't mind a few more days of snow smothering our front yard is a bit, um, embarrassing. People, we still have Christmas lights out there. I KNOW! It's March! There's no excuse! Except that we really haven't been able to see those lights since mid-January, at which time we took down all of the Christmas decorations except for the strands of lights wound around the bushes and shrubs. We had no idea that it would be the last time we would be able to see those lights up until now. I even thought about plugging them in so the snow would melt around them, but I couldn't find the plugs. There was simply too much snow.

That snow NEEDS to stay until Saturday. On Saturday I can deal with landmines and twinkly lights, but not a minute sooner. So if you have any extra snow, could you please throw it on our front yard? KTHXBAI.

Uh, yeah. Our dog apparently liked to poop on the patio slab in the backyard. BLECH.

Well that just makes me feel a little bit better about the Christmas tree still in the bathroom. Except that our bathroom isn't covered in snow and the tree is completely accessible.

Okay, that was short lived.

Don't feel bad, half of our neighborhood still has their lights up including us. I had a dinner party last night and was quite embarrassed now that you can see the lights until all the neighbors said theres are up too. Im more worried about the fact ours will be up till Easter if I leave it up to my husband to take them down.

I just took down the lights on our porch yesterday. I had to wait for the icicles to thaw, then i had to get the motivation to get out all the stuff to get up there and get em down.

So now the house is back to normal, but i want to put out the porch furniture. just gotta make sure its not going to snow again first!

My dog is a total princess, too. So when the snow was deeper than she is tall, she'd go out the door, down the walk, and out into the concrete apron in front of the garages. There, she would leave us her little gifts. As a result we've now been running over them with the cars. Sigh. I need to get out there and move them because that is just gross.

I have to get mine down tomorrow, before all the in-laws come on Saturday for ThePartyIDidn'tKnowIWasHaving, or else I'll be that relative.

I thought bulldogs were supposed to be tough!

Psh. The 12 year old took our Christmas lights down just this last weekend. I gave the Hunny to St. Patrick's Day to make sure it was done. And we have no snow excuse.

@hello haha narf--Oh, woman. Take that tree down! It's almost St. Patrick's Day! Also, "eh?" Really? You move to Canada when I wasn't looking?

I was actually wondering about the fate of that body we discovered in your front yard...

Lights still up? Check. Dog Poop all over the lawn? Check. Mountains of snow? Check. But you can have it ALL, since I don't have any neighbours close enough to judge me!

Don't make excuses. This is part of your plan to slowly extend the Christmas light season year round. I know how much you like Christmas.

Lights ain't nuthin' compared to what Christmas related item I've got going on around here. I'll do a post about it...not ready to come clean;)

At least your dog goes within 10 feet of the house. Ours has literally walked out onto the porch and done her business...right on the deck!

eh - no biggie about the lights! Mine came down yesterday! I actually still had a wreath in my house stating "Merry Christmas" until yesterday afternoon.

I wish I had snow to hide the three-foot weeds that have taken over the front yard. At least the neighbor's yard is just as bad, otherwise everyone would think we were the foreclosure house in the neighborhood. Yesit'sthatbad.

Yikes! You just reminded me that I still have lights on one bush out front that I totally forgot about! I'll have to remedy that tomorrow. Thanks for the 'minder!

Our dog is the same way. Nothing like looking out the kitchen window during dinner and seeing a sea of doggie doo doo, especially now that it's been raining and starting to fall apart. All over my mulch and patio and the mud we have in place of grass because we have a drainage problem and and swamp everytime it rains. Ick.
