I'm Going to Start Keeping a Private Stash of Peanut Butter, Just in Case

I realized late that I had forgotten to tell Alexis that I would be headed to Chicago for two days. It wasn't really a big deal, though. Considering the kid spends 90% of her waking hours trying to finagle her way back into my uterus, she always takes news of my overnight work trips remarkably well.

Too well, in fact.

As I told her she and Mr. Husband would be on their own today and Friday, I waited for "Get the Party Started" to start floating out of magical invisible speakers in the sky. It would quickly be joined by fireworks shooting out of her rear end and a laser light show blasting from her eyes. I have no idea why she thinks me going out of town is worthy of a Major Celebration, but it is.

She stood there throwing a party in her head as I tried to figure out why she loves these little trips so much. I imagined that she and Mr. Husband sit on the couch in their underwear, watching movies until the wee hours of the night. They probably dine on peanut butter and jelly, perhaps straight out of the jar because who needs bread when mom isn't home? I pictured Alexis tilting the peanut butter jar towards the Bulldog, letting her take a big lick, and then tilting it back so she can scoop out some for herself. There's probably a kitten hanging from the chandelier, toys strewn all over the house, and a whole lot of loud belching and such.

As I imagined the scenario that would be worthy of the kid's excitement, my curiosity got the best of me. I asked Alexis why she likes it when I go out of town and what she and daddy do when I'm not around.

She told me they watch movies and eat peanut butter and jelly.

I KNEW IT.

Awesome. One of these times you'll come back and she'll know all the finer points of scratching her crotch.

Mommys really do know everything that goes on in their houses. ;)

Another great picture! Isn't is awesome that they are still at that wonderful age when they will actually tell us what goes on when we aren't around?

Yes, but are the PB&J sandwiches made CORRECTLY?

In our house it would be cheetos and soda. At least PBJ has SOME nutritional worth.

HA! I can't wait to hear these stories from my little guy. Love this photo. I think I know where it was taken. Did you take advantage of the GIANT hill during snowmagedon? I seem to remember some sort of post about it. Favorite sled riding spot of my high school years.

Awww. How sweet is that? I love that she loves her alone time with her daddy. It think that is the coolest. What a special relationship they will have.

I'm sure she loves her alone time with you just as much. :)

Well at least that way they aren't making the sandwiches the wrong way. :)

That little stinker! Peanut butter and watch movies! No way! I wish my husband would go out of town more so we could do that. :-)
