Loose Ends. Seriously.

It's amazing the difference a year can make, especially when a new year brings with it a new, more experienced teacher. Last year at the first parent conferences with Alexis' teacher, I wasn't sure we were talking about the same child.

Seriously.

It was an awful situation that became worse in retrospect when I discovered that it doesn't have to be that way. This year Alexis has a fantastic teacher who has a lot of experience and it shows. She knows the kid inside and out, which is more than I could have possibly hoped for. Today's parent teacher conferences exceeded any and all of my expectations.

So far the switch from private school to public school has been a good one. Here's to hoping it stays that way.

Christmas Crazy is warming up. I expect to share some donations that have already come in with you next week and to open up the donations immediately thereafter. It's time to make some magic, y'all.

It turns out that federal vehicles have immunity, meaning that the Post Office pleads "TOO BAD, SO SAD" when it comes to the fact that one of their employees wrecked our truck while working.

Seriously.

We're working with our insurance to get the truck fixed or replaced, but there is a chance that we will have to pay the deductible, even though we were nowhere near the truck when it got hit.

I am not amused. AT ALL.

The next Getting Started with Your DSLR Workshop will be January 12th. I'll put up the registration information soon.

At last count I had six giveaways that I need to post. Watch for them to start showing up on the Review page soon. There are a ton of fun things including gift cards, cookies, tickets to events, and a ton more.

So how are you doing?

Sometimes just having a teacher who will listen and not get defensive is a blessing. I am so glad it is going well for Alexis.

Your post made me check my notes from when I called the USPS to complain about the poor service we have been receiving for years. After about three or four complaints to my local PS, I finally went to the top/federa;. Apparently, someone was supposed to get back to me within one business day, and as it turns out, II called on the 2nd. That has been one loooooog business day. So of course I am just shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you that, they won't take responsibility. :-(

I can't believe they don't have to take responsibilty for hitting your truck. That is just crap!! I find it hard to believe that they don't have some sort of liabilty insurance to cover their drivers. I really hope that situation turns for the better for you. Aside from that...I love this picture of Alexis!!

A good teacher does make all the difference. I have liked all of the teachers Ben has had on some level but this years and the one he has this year is phenomenal. He is definitely thriving in this class.

That stinks about the truck

I am so excited about Christmas Crazy. There may be stuff that is already showing up in my piles for it as well. Oh and Ben has proclaimed he wants to invite more people to his party just so he can have an even bigger donation. He is ready to spread some Christmas magic.

Re: Truck. I had a similar experience. A schoolbus ran into my car--totally the busdriver's fault. However, school districts are not liable for property damage, so my insurance had to pay. I was 24 and in grad school. A few months later, someone broke into my car, so my insurance company cancelled me for too many claims. Sucked. Sorry it happened to you, too.

@Crista--She really only needs them to see the board when she's in the back of the classroom, so she hasn't been wearing them at home much lately. :-)
