Poppy and Branch. That's All We Talk About Now.

I'm not changing the subject because I'm done with the disappointment, but rather because I've had too many consecutive hours of it. I need fluff. Stupid, stupid fluff.

TROLLS. There is nothing stupider or fluffier.

There was a very purposeful plan to follow the insanity trail and take the girls to a movie. On a school night. Nearing bedtime. It was to be Mila's first ever movie as the mere thought of trying to get her to sit still for two hours invokes the need for duct tape and sedatives. One of those things would be for her, the other for me. Take your pick.

But I took them anyway. The good thing about taking a chance on a 2-year old is that they have a fairly solid chance of doing the exact opposite of what you expect. I expected Mila to sort of sit for the first 20 minutes or so and then I would buy another 20 minutes with popcorn and candy. From there she would likely turn into a pinball and start flinging herself all around the theater. But, it was a kids' movie. Maybe that would turn out to not be the worst thing ever?

Mila laughed at my expectations and then proceeded to do the opposite. By the opposite, I mean her eyes fell out of her head when she saw the enormity of the screen in the theater. Then she fell head-over-heels in love with a bunch of characters with big hair.

Mila sat peacefully through all but the last ten minutes of Trolls. By then it was 30 minutes past her bedtime, so a few wiggles were hardly worth blinking at.

MILA. SAT. PEACEFULLY.

FOR HOURS.

I never thought I would type those words. I did not know she possessed that power.

So, thanks Trolls. Thanks for being 90 minutes of mindless fun, complete with rainbows and sunshine and happy music.

(The movie is delightfully happy and predictable and perfect, even with the non-stop "hug time" and a character that literally farts glitter. Go see it if you need a break from reality.) (This isn't sponsored. I just think we should share our coping strategies these days.) (I'm totally going to see it again.) (I might take Mila again. We'll see.)
