Raaaandom

* 12 Hours. That's how long it took for the frogs to find their way back to our pond. I drained all of the water out early last week. It sat completely dry for days. Then we added in the liner and rocks and I put a little bit of water in it to temporarily hold things in place. 12 hours later, the Green Frogs who had been gone for two weeks had moved back in. How do they do that? (The pond might be done this weekend. Maybe. I just need to get the pumps running and dump a load of topsoil all around it.)

* Also residing near the pond, the tiniest little toad I have ever seen. I'm pretty sure it hates me for picking it up, but what's it going to do? Tap gently on my toe while silently praying I don't squish it with my pinky?

* I have words that I want to write regarding Do Good Day, but I'm waiting to do it until after I've been to the now-open 77Kids store. That's happening very soon. The words will show up over here when they are ready.

* Speaking of that sub-page, I finally posted my magic trick for lowering the temperature in our bedroom. I still can't believe it worked. Hopefully it works just as well for some other people who have the same situation.

* I'm planning to post a bunch of before/after photos of the house. They might be the most boring photos ever seen, but I'm posting them anyway because it'll make me feel all warm and fuzzy to see the progress we've made in one year. At least I hope there will be the appearance of progress. Anyway, you've been warned--boring house pics are coming soon.

* Tonight as I was helping Alexis get ready for bed, she paused as she was brushing her teeth to ask what the word "makeover" means. She's really very good about asking for the meaning of words she doesn't know, although she isn't always able to tell me where she first heard the word. I have no idea where "makeover" came from (she blamed Mickey Mouse Clubhouse--I'm not sure if that's true or not).  I did my best to explain the meaning. A few minutes later, as I tucked her in for the night, she turned to me and said, "Momma, you need a makeover."

Apparently I will not be getting that job as a dictionary writer anytime soon. Either that, or I really do need a makeover.

Those two critters are adorable! The toads sing in our pond, esp. in the spring and when it's raining and make thousands of baby tadpoles. Strangely, our neighborhood has not had the Toadpocalypse.

Hope you get singing toads next year! We love 'em!

Maybe it is because I collect frogs (and, ya know, have serious issues), but I love the frog and toad pictures. Your talent as a photographer is evident and the subjects are damn adorable.
Speaking of your photos...some of us are totally looking forward to the before and after images. You guys have put a lot of time and effort (blood, sweat and tears plus cursing!) into this place and we wanna see how it is coming along.
You totally don't need a makeover. Except for that whole wearing a sweater on a day when it is 90 degrees...ha! Seriously though, you are beautiful. No need to fuck with what you have been blessed with.
Ok...gotta go read about magic tricks for cooling. I can't handle this heat!

Love the froggies! There's a kid's group called Lunch Money and they sing a song called "Somehow a Frog Finds a Pond." It must be a universal truth or something.

Ouch! Really, don't most of us need a makeover? Or, just want one?

That is the cutest little frog! I'm off to read your trick for cooling off the bedroom. Is it my imagination or is this summer WAY hotter than last summer?

Well, considering you misused 'pouring' on twitter last night...I think that dictionary job is really out the window ;)

You're still awesomeness, though...no makeover needed!!

P.S. Frogs are awesome...love the pics!!

Finding toads in the yard is one of my favoritest things ever. When I was still married, the girls' dad would find baby toads all the time - some smaller than a fingertip. Since I've started taking care of my own lawn, I haven't seen any. Or else that's not all lawn paste. :(

I LOVE Before and After pictures as they related to housing projects - bring 'em on!

And isn't it funny . . . growing up we were always told to let comments from other kids roll off of our backs because, "Kids can be cruel." Who knew that as we got older that would change to, "Our own kids can be cruel." (This coming from a woman who was just replaced in the beautiful category by her son's VERY young, VERY blond substitute teacher.)

Ooh, I'm excited to see the before and after pics. I love that kind of stuff - not boring at all! And that IS a tiny toad! :)
