With Her Own Two Hands
Back in May, I asked Alexis to pick a packet of flower seeds. No guidance. No influence. Just the freedom to decide what she wanted to watch grow as the summer flew by. This year she decided sunflowers were all that and then some. She carefully planted the seeds in the holes I dug for her, covered them with dirt, and made sure that they got a little water a few times each week. Her diligence was rewarded with some twelve-foot tall stalks topped with bright yellow blooms, which she pretty much thought was the coolest thing in the whole wide world.
I love when nature impresses like that.

My niece and I grew sunflowers one summer. We picked a couple of variety packs and were rewarded with some of the most awesome sunflowers I have seen to this day--every shade and combination of brown, orange, yellow and gold that you can imagine. That was 12 years ago when she was 4 and she still talks about those sunflowers. Good times :)
I love sunflowers, they are unique, and beautiful and of course, the most important reason, they are black n' gold! I just recently started following your blog (fellow Pittsburgh mommy blogger myself). I enjoy all of the creative pictures you take of your adorable daughter (sidewalk chalk scenes are my favs) oh and your witty posts too! I also enjoy that many times when I read your status updates on fb, it is like you are reading my mind...Glad to have found your site(s)!

Did you already pick the winner for the Ghost Hunter's meet and greet? I didn't see who won...maybe I just missed it, or do you not post results publicly? Just curious :-) thanks...
@Jen--Yup, the winner was posted at the end of the contest post: http://www.theburghbaby.com/reviews/2011/9/22/win-tickets-to-meet-the-ghost-hunters-closed.html
