Delurking Day. Just Because.
It has been . . . well . . . aw, hell, just get off my blogging lawn, whippersnappers. It has been a long time since I did this:
No reason for that. I just haven't done it. Until now!
So, like, a lot of you stop here every once in a while, but only a few of you leave comments. I'm not here to tell you what you have to do, except for maybe I am. WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE? Delurk yourselves, please and thank you! I just want a chance to learn a little bit about who the people are in my neighborhood . . . in my neighborhood . . . in my neigh-bor-hoood. (You're welcome for the ear worm.)
Anyway, leave a comment just this once and I'll love you for a very long time. While you're at it, leave me a link to a blog you like or your own blog or whatever. I kinda sorta deleted Google Reader a few days ago, so I may need some reading material at some point in time.
PLEASE? And THANK YOU!

Hello :)
I'm Samantha, a 21 year old who just likes to read! yes I am I will admit that i love reading blogs, no matter the topic!! Your blog along with that's church are among my favorites to read!! I live south of Pittsburgh so I'm in the neighborhood!
Samantha
Comment granted! lol. I don't know maybe I just don't want to be misunderstood or whatever. But here I am commenting just because...
I only come here so you feel special by my presence. I really don't read anything.
Look at this! So awesome. All the lurkers are coming out of hiding! And, just so you know, Auto correct changed "Lurker" to Purist. I love your blog. Totally, and absolutely. You are the first person besides "That's Church" to introduce me to Pittsburgh, and I couldn't have 2 better people to show me how awesome it is to live here.
Hello! Faithful reader here, very UNfaithful commenter! I love your stories, photos and optimism! You have my gratitude for being a bright spot in me day...and my apologies for not chiming in more often. :o)
Hello my name is denise. I write blog. I update twitter. I like your blog. (teehee)
hi hi :) i found you via our shared love for the gilmore girls and a "@ reply" on twitter. still trying to find you those dvd's at the amazing price i paid ;)
also, your humor makes me giggle (all too similar to my own) and Alexis' cuteness kills me. (oh, and i think we are instantly somehow bonded through the fact that we grew up in the Dakotas...)
i think that's all? no blog for me, yet. working on it, maybe.
I'm more of a lurker because I feel my insight is that of "learning of what is to come". My name is Nicole, recent college grad, living South of Pittsburgh with a bf and a dog. Avid believer that I never want to have children, although reading your words slowly make me want to change that, eventually... someday... maybe... well, we'll see. I've stumbled upon the site through That's Church... A blog I would definitely recommend is www.marriageconfessions.com , not mine but definitely a very cute blog.
Happy DeLurking!
Okay, so I sometimes lurk and sometimes comment..... depends on my mood :D
My name is Kathy and yes, I am a lurker. There, I said it. Not sure how I found your blog or how long I've been stopping by but I enjoy your writing and the way you share your days with Alexis with us. Always makes me smile!
Thanks =8-)
I've commented a couple of times- I guess I'm a kind-of-lurker? Anyway, I found your blog via the blogroll of a friend of mine who is from the Pittsburgh area and follows many of the Pittsburgh bloggers (you met her and some of our friends at the alumni game, apparently). I love kids and their ridiculous stories- I worked at Chuck E. Cheese for a year and still want kids of my own- so Alexis is usually a bright spot in my day. :-) I've been paying more attention lately because I have an application in at GSPIA at Pitt, and your blog is a good way to hear about my possible future city. I don't really blog currently, but when I (hopefully) start grad school this fall I'd like to start a blog about being a transplant and adjusting, particularly in a new hockey market. (I know that sounds a little ridiculous, but that is going to be a Very Big Deal for me.)
I'm not a lurker, just here to say HELLO! :)
Yeah, not-so-much on the lurker status here. I can't believe how many local readers are commenting - crazy cool. I know I have learned to love your awesome city so much more through all these years of your adventures.
And deleting your reader? Enviable. And probably really, really freeing. Props.
I don't mean to be a lurker, I just do not always have much to say...or I may feel anything I have to say is not worth posting :) But I have left 2 or 3 comments in the past few months.
I am Clair, born and raised in Pittsburgh but moved away 14 years ago when i met the hubs (he lived in AZ and yes I moves cross country for him!). Now, we are living in northern VA and can visit home more often...yay! I am a mostly stay-at-home mom to 4 kids. (I drive for an after school program picking up kids at local schools...a whole 8.75 hours a week LOL). Well, I guess in reality I only "stay at home" with 3 (13 y/o girl, 12 y/o boy, 7 y/o boy) as my oldest (19 y/o girl) just finished up pastry school up there in the Burgh and is now working at Nemacolin Woodlands resort :) I used to have a blog but I got lazy...maybe I should try again soon. I found yours via That's Church (back when Ginny was still anonymous) and I used to read it every few days...now with Twitter and such, I read it every time you post an update :) (sometimes it gives me reading material in the car as I am waiting for school to let out!). Sometimes, the blog makes me miss those younger ages and sometimes it makes me thankful I am out of those stages LOL :D
Guess that's it from here...
Hi! Um, hmmm, what to say. I feel....so put on the spot. Like in grade school when the teacher randomly calls on you to answer a question. Uh oh! Anyway, I don't think I'm a full fledged lurker, I've commented occassionally. I try to comment more since I know people like to get comments but sometimes I just run out of time :( I read your blog all the time and love your writing style. Anyway, that is all. Good night!
Guilty as charged. Daily lurker.
Hi! I check in almost daily on your blog when I get to work (an excuse to put off working just a few more minutes :) ) I'm Lauren. I live in Belle Vernon, and I have a husband, two kids (boy - 4 in two weeks and girl - 2.5) and a horrible dog.
I don't have a blog, but I absolutely love www.cakewrecks.blogspot.com...some hilarious stuff there.
Hello! I'm Amandeep, from India. I've been lurking here since about... ummm... 2.5 yrs i guess, and reading almost daily since then... Since it's been that long, I really don't remember how i reached here. :)
I totally love this blog and that little girl of yours!
Much love and best wishes...
:)
Good morning,
Just wanted to say "hello" (hand waving in the air). I'm a new blogger to da' Burgh, and what you and JanePitt have done has inspired me to do what I do. Hopefully our site can entertain you as much as yours has entertained us.
Go Burgh!
www.daburghboys.com
Found you through That's Church and love seeing/reading snippets of Pittsburgh - my home for 40 years before heading south to the land of year round warm and opportunity - right, then the whole economica collapse and the two coldest winters on record back to back....my 'baby' is 22, but seeing your 'baby' reminds me of those warm and wonderful hugs, questions that you have to maintain a straight face to answer and soft, sweet baby's breath when you tuck them in at night. Thank You.
I read you almost every day, because I also live in the burgh,I'm raising young children, I think you are a wonderful writer, and you are very observant. Your recent winter classic pics were very much enjoyed in my house. Your daughter, whom I think is very charming, becomes more so through your eyes. Hell, I just like ya. But I'm not a lurker...and I appreciate your recent kind words and visit to my blog. Thanks!
Hi from Skyline, AL! i'll come out of the lurker closet... just for a bit. I have been a regular reader for over a year now, but i don't think i have ever commented... I am a SAHM of two and a full time student. I don't have a blog of my own, maybe i should start? Anyhoo... i love your blog, i love seeing the world through Alexis's eyes... wonderful photos!!!
Hi! I'm a lurker! I found your site through the Thats Church blog, and I LOVE both blogs! Your writing style is so great. Heartfelt Truth, humor and a pinch of sarcasm every now and then--how can it get any better? As a mom of two girls--I so enjoy your take on parenting and always look forward to reading your blog. Thanks!
I comment. I hang out on your blogging lawn. Frequently. Because you're cool stalking material in my book :)
They say you always remember your first time, so I guess we'll see. Been lurking for some time now after I discovered you at That's Church. Finally decided to leave a comment. Love your blog because it reminds me of a time long ago when my own daughter was small. She's all grown up now with a teenage daughter of her own. I just can't figure our how all that time just whizzed by so quickly. So keep doing what you're doing and enjoy the ride because before you know it, you'll be the grandparent of a teenager too.
I'm only a semi-lurker ... Sometimes I comment, but mostly I do not.
I'm a twenty-something from (GASP!) Cleveland, so I'm not a fan of the Steelers-related posts, but as a Pittsburgher, I realize you can't help it. (On a side note, my mom is Pittsburgh born so I do have a soft spot for Pittsburgh, too ... Oh, and my cousin's the Boy Mayor). But ... I mainly love to read your blog because your take on parenting is right up my alley ... I need all the help and ideas I can get!
And your snarky posts make me smile. :)
I absolutely love your blog! I'm not sure how I found your blog, but I'm so glad I did. Your writing, photography, and daughter are all amazing. And I thank you for sharing your story with us! I live just north of the city and have a 3 year old son and 1 year daughter.
I check your blog every once in a while and just added it to my feed reader. FEED ME BLAWGS!
I have been trying to comment more on peoples posts in hopes they reciprocate, we will see how it goes!!
lovely blawg by the way.
I read your blog everyday but very seldom comment. I think I like reading it because of the fun twist you bring to the charming antics of Alexis. I have two neices, age 4 and 6 that live in New York and I hardly get to see them or talk to them. I would love if my sister was able to do something like this so we could follow my neices' lives instead of just catching up every few months.
Not sure how I found you, but since the discovery...
I like to visit here because you actually make me a "kinder, gentler" observer of the Howler. I don't like kids, I don't like OPK, I don't generally like OP. But your posts make me realize how spectacular the Howler was, is, and will be.
Hi! I'm a semi-lurker? I read your blog every day and rarely comment, but I use twitter for important observations -@akuipers- like Pittsburghers' weird pronunciation of pull, rule and mullet (which, I double checked with my friends last night and they are so wrong). I'm a graduate student at Pitt and have lived here since undergrad and love it. A lot. Nice to meet you! Love the blog :)
Hi! I'm a lurker. My name is Cori. I'm a social work student at the University of Pittsburgh. I think I found your blog on the blogroll of the Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondant blog? Anyway, I rarely comment here, although I comment occasionally on facebook.
A great blog that isn't mine because I've never been able to stick with blogging: girlgoesgrrr.tumblr.com
Hi, it's me, FabGrandma, just stopping by to say hi.
Hello,
I found your blog a couple years ago when I lived in Seattle... I was searching for Pgh blogs (Pgh is my hometown). I moved back to the 'burgh (Brighton Heights is my new hood) about a year and a half ago, after living 13 years in the Northwest. I love your perspective and although I don't have any children, I do have many favorite 'mommy blogs' and yours is certainly included.
OK I actually comment on FB instead of here. So i'm not totally a lurker. Yours is tops in my blog world, along with my BFF gacgirl
Fine ... just this once, I'll delurk. Even if you did make me cry with your 'TIck Tock' post the other day.
Aside from reading your blog - which I read almost daily via my Google Reader - and many of the other yinz team blogs, I've recently become a fan of the Cheapskate Blog (http://news.cnet.com/cheapskate/) on CNet. I don't always need the electronics featured on the blog, but he definitely comes up with some great deals.
I've also started reading the Daddy Files (http://www.daddyfiles.com/). Always good stuff.
Well, I don't know if lurker is the right word for someone who pretty much stopped reading (and writing) blogs quite sometime ago. Sometimes I catch your posts on facebook and they always provide me with a laugh. Now that I am writing again (at a new home) I'm trying to start reading as well. After all, I can't be hoping people comment on mine, if I'm not commenting on theirs!
not really a lurker either. I usually comment on twitter.
But still I love reading everyday! Gives me something to do at work besides work.

We talk on Twitter and have met before but I do admit that I'm a lurker - I don't comment much on blogs. I'm a daily reader, though!
I keep a book review blog (http://fortheloveoflit.com) but only wish I had the discipline to keep a regular blogging schedule like you do. I need to use some of your tips from PodCamp. :)
Hi! I'm Holly. I actually saw a retweet of something you said from one of my Twitter friends, started to follow you and then found your blog. Love reading it, especially for photography advice and posts (you've helped me learn a thing or two so far). Please feel free to follow on twitter @ hbc15717.
Im a total lurker from Denver. Never even been to Pittsburgh....stumbled on your site almost 2 years ago now!
Long time reader. first time commenter. (In fact, such a newbie that it looks like yesterday's attempt at commenting here didn't actualy work.) I'm a paralegal, client of W's, native Californian who's now a true Pittsburgher after 23 years here. Found you through That's Church, and through your blog and tweets I've found many of the other blogs I read. Here are two non-local folks you should check out for some interesting reads: Roger Ebert does much, much more than movies (one of his best: http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2010/01/nil_by_mouth.html), and @hudsonette is fun to follow on Twitter for wonderful variety of links about the arts, science, photography, law, politics, and dogs (She blogs, but not often.)
I look forward to reading your blog every day - Alexis is a sweetheart and your writing and photos are great!
I'm on official lurker... I may not live in your neighborhood (and thanks for that, by the way) but am originally from PA, and my sister lives in Pittsburgh.
I am, however, raising 2 proud Steelers fans. In fact, the game wasn't quite over when my son went to bed, so he insisted upon wearing his jersey to sleep. That's my good boy!!!
Not really a lurker, since I've met you once or twice, but I read your blog every day and really enjoy it.
I don't comment everyday because I don't want to be totally annoying.
I comment... occasionally. I'm Brian. I live and work in Greensburg. In fact, I work at the University fo Pittsburgh at Greensburg. I'm pretty sure I initially came across your blog shortly after coming across "That's Church."
No blog quiet yet, but I'm beekayroot on facebook and twitter.
Your blog is one that I look forward to everyday. I have an almost 1 yr old and we recently moved to Dallas, TX. Reading stories about Alexis makes me even more excited (if that was possible) to watch my own daughter grow up. I can't wait to see her little personality grow. So far she is looking to become quite the little spitfire.
My blog is goodnessgraces.blogspot.com.
Thanks for a great blog and for doing things like Christmas Crazy.
I think I've commented before, but HI anyway.....
Just our family blog, but my kids are cute: uhlfamilyblog.blogspot.com
Hello! I'm a daily reader--from MN. I came upon your site from some "best of blogs..." Try to visit daily. Your entries make me chuckle and remind me of the stages my children have gone thru--my youngest is now 5. I love that you take the time to "stop and smell the roses" of childhood and document them. :)
I'm not a lurker, I've commented before. Follow you on Twitter, etc.
Just a local librarian who loves stories about Pgh & trying to figure out my 29th year...some blows came at the beginning.
But I have a new job & love books.
Check out my blog. Though not as funny as yours, is helping me through a rough patch in my life.

Hi! I read your blog almost everyday and have told other people to come look at it. I came here because of a link on the old Pitt Girl blog and have been a faithful visitor ever since. I don't normally comment because I always look at everything on google reader. But I wanted to say hello and that I love your dogs, your writing, and your honest take on motherhood. At the heart of this blog is a mother who deeply loves her family and her life and it is a great thing to read.
