So. This Happened. And I Survived.

If you had asked me how I felt about preschool graduation ceremonies five years ago, I would have rolled my eyes. Heck, if you had asked me last week, I would have rolled my eyes. LAME. LAME. LAME.

I mean, c'mon! Do we really need a big ceremony every time a kid does what they are supposed to do?

YES. YES, WE DO.

This is why:

And this:

And this:

I'm not referring to the photographs. I'm referring to the experience they capture. Alexis celebrating with her friends has officially become my new favorite memory.

But, damn, do they really have to grow up so fast?

AAhh! No way. Too big too fast.

And I agree with you. All of those lame things that used to seem gratuitous and silly are like... the best parts of existing, now.

Oh my gosh, I see preschools have upgraded to real caps and gowns. I'm sure I had a cap made from a styrofoam bowl and construction paper. This is a much better look and Alexis looks adorable!

@Julianne--The owner guarded those caps and gowns like they were woven with real gold. I bet she'll get 20 years of use out of them.

How much did you CRY? I am such an emotional wreck with my son and school. SOB! He starts grade one in September! And my baby? He'll start kindergarten next year! WAH! And serioiusly. WHERE IS THE PAUSE BUTTON?

I went through this 4 years ago and I remember thinking the same thing. The whole thing seems kinda silly until you see your child go through it. Then it just makes you realize your kid is growing up way too fast.

This is one of the reasons why I'm a little disappointed my kids have never gone to preschool. I eat this kind of stuff up.

Before you know it that will be University graduation gown. Scary how time seems to fly. Wish we had that kind of thing here in SA. I would love my son to have that kind of experience. Alexis looks adorable. Glad you had fun.

Those are the prettiest cap and gowns I've ever seen! She looks so beautiful and proud.

I'm with you. Many things I used to think were stupid, I suddenly love. Kids will do that to you.

That child of yours always has celebration in her eyes, and you always capture it so well with your camera and your words.

I love watching you enjoy each other.

These are such sweet moments. I love the last shot of Alexis and her friend touching caps. Wonderful capture.

@Tara R--They sang a bunch of songs and did a bunch of recitation. After EVERY. SINGLE. PIECE. those two turned to each other like that and made faces at each other. It was the most adorable thing ever.

Awww. How sweet is that??? I love it. And caps and gowns and everything! WOW! :)

Savor every moment. I so enjoyed my daughter's pre-school and kindergarten graduations. I was robbed of them for my son since he goes to a special school and they do not do those types of things there. So take little sips and savor every drop!

*sniff* Looking at pictures, there is so very little that's little about her anymore. Congrats to Alexis!
