Why, Yes, Those M&Ms DO Look Familiar
If I have a problem, there is a very simple way to resolve it--write about it here. Seriously. Either y'all will provide me with an answer that works out beautifully, or karma will step in and take care of things for me. When I wrote about the potential Castle Dilemma, karma took care of things.
I initially had zero expectations for when the castle would be delivered, but then last Thursday I looked up the tracking number and found that it was scheduled for delivery on Friday. Perfect! Just in time for Easter! Crap! I wasn't sure I wanted it for Easter! And then . . . Karma.
The package got lost. UPS didn't know what had happened to it, they just knew it was still "out for delivery" as late as today, when it was finally truly delivered. I'm guessing the UPS driver knew what was in the box and had a good ol' time playing with it all weekend. I'm picturing him wearing his brown shorts and hiding in the back of the truck with the castle all spread out before him. Regardless, the thing wasn't here for Easter, so Alexis had to suffer and just get a few pieces of candy and some books.
The poor, deprived child. I mean, not only was she stuck with lowly books, she even had the embarrassment of finding the same candy in some of her Easter eggs as she could have found in the pantry for the past five months. As in, I kinda sorta maybe pulled out the leftover clearance Halloween candy I had bought and re-used it as Easter candy.
Oh yes, I did. I am THAT brand of evil.
Regardless, the kid has no idea that she should be disappointed to have received a couple of books and some old/refurbished candy. As she plodded around the house in search of her eggs, she declared this Easter the "Best Easter EVER!"
I can only hope it's this easy to make her happy every Easter.

My kiddos did the same "best ever" thing...I have a feeling it's going to get harder to impress them as the years go by:/
Oh....FIRST!!!!
Love her. Absolutely LOVE HER!!
She will, because you've been modeling that same behavior for her to watch. You're both awesome that way.
@Karen--We shall see. Right now she doesn't know to compare notes with the kids at school. Once the whole, "I got The Bestest Thing Ever, what did you get?" stuff starts, we might be in trouble. Maybe.
I only ever declared it "the Best Easter Ever" when I won the egg hunt.
Just wait until she gets siblings...
HA! The Kid won the coloring contest at our local food store and got a huge basket full of crap. I managed to steal stuff out of it to put in his basket! LOL!! He loved every minute.
This makes me feel better about the CD and socks Deacon got for Easter.
As always, great photo. :)
Of course you recycled the Halloween candy. You're environmentally conscious, and you will be up and until she's old enough to catch you.
she's so cute!
I have a hormonal pre-teen who declared this her "WORST EASTER EVER" so between our lives, there hangs balance. :)
i love that you used clearance halloween candy in her easter festivities. seriously loving you right now.
@hello haha narf--What else was there to do with all those M&Ms? She'll never know. Heh.
Maggie was most excited about a tiny box of Goldfish crackers. That were like 97 cents at Target that I grabbed on a whim as I walked past the end of an aisle. Last night one of our neighbors asked her about the Easter Bunny and what did he bring her, and she squealed FISHIES!!!
So easy to please (sometimes.)
Duh...you're supposed to use M&Ms to play Bingo!! :)
Love her Easter dress! And what's with all you got-it-together moms having egg hunts outside? My poor kids have to egg hunt inside where I can supervise from next to my coffee pot. (mmm...caffeine.)
Dying, DYING, from that hairstyle and that dress with the puckered elastic-y stuff on top. Smocking? Is that what it's called? I don't know, but I do know that it's way-ass cuter than the stupid yellow striped Target polo shirts my boys wore on Easter. Girl envy... in... full... force...
@Katie in MA--I think this was the last year I'll be able to get away with putting the eggs outside while Alexis eats breakfast the morning of Easter. I hid a ton inside the previous night so that I would have an extra delay before making a loop around the house, but she still nearly busted me.
